PLs help !! H1B transfer

I filed my H1B visa through a consulting company in 2006. The visa is valid for 1 1/2 more yrs. But I could not start working on the visa because of some health reasons. Can I work on this H1 visa now ?
Any info will be of great help.

Are you currently in US? Not getting paid on a H1b puts you out of status unless there is a documented LOA approved.

Was your H1b approved earlier a COS? Did you travel and re-enter on a different status after the H1b approval?

Need more info.
