Noble effort.
If this is allowed (Adoption by GC holders) there will be lot more third world country children who will get adopted. How can somebody misuse this? Bring their neice or nephew or distant relative. So what? An adoption into USA provides ample opportunity for that child, not available in the mother country.
Personally me and my spouse have vowed to adopt as soon as we become citizens. (We already have children of our own FYI)
Some of the comments in the petition are cruel and exposes the selfish, self centered view of the world by the so called intellectual immigrants.

I am glad gzhang3000 brought this issue up.
I have had at least 4 people contact us regarding this issue and asking if I know of a way around this ridiculous law since my spouse and I have an adopted child. But we adopted our daughter from India several years ago, when we were permanent residents in UK and citizens of India. We had no problems with an international adoption in that country where the law is more humane!! We later became citizens of UK and are now in the process of GC applicaitons here. My brother-in-law and wife have recently become US citizens and are now going through the process of adopting, which will take at least a year or two to complete. They have been waiting 7 years for this! I know another couple who have only just got thier I-485 approved and are considering living apart for 2 years so that the wife can co-reside with the baby they would like to bring to the US. A lot of people are just giving upon on the idea of adoption just because of the lengthy wait for citizenship, which is such a shame!
I fully support this petition and urge every reader to lend a helping hand in getting this to the attention of the people who matter. Lets try together to change this meaningless law and give our less fortunate kids a better chance in life!
