We live in a free country. If they don't afraid of loosing their jobs I am ok with that. It's just one day when they try to get attention from others and not coming to their work places is just another way of doing that. I heard there are 11.5 millions illigal immigrants in this country and they are strugglying for their rights. I am pretty sure they will start working tomorrow and will clean up your neighborhood as they do it every day. Why don't you blame let's say airlines workers for going to strike or truck drivers? Illigal immigrants are not slaves. Their life is not very easy that's for sure and keep in mind that all of us could have been in the same boat.

yesss...is only one freaking day...and look the effect they caused......most of them work 60 hours a week for no more than 300 dollars, I've known many that work 7 days a week for years to save money and support their families..and some are crying for one day??? give me a break..!!!

everyone is crying immigration reform, right??? well these people had the guts to stand up for it. while most people involved in this protest are latinos, their views resonate with a large majority of immigrants, and the benefits would not be one sided!!!!!!! there are over 11 million illegal immigrants in this country, and i guarantee you, more than half are non-latino.

these people are pushing for an immigrant friendly bill, and they respresent the interests of not just one miority group but all migrant groups........
back in the 1950s the protests were primarily about blacks, but also other minorities!!!!!

furthermore, even though they are illegal, these people are protected by the constitution of the united states. remeber, the constitution does not protect only americans, but all PEOPLE on american soil.

these people are not sayng that it is ok to be illegal. all they want to do is push for a bill that will make them legal, by paying back taxes and learning english... just as most of us, they left their homes for a better life, and now only know this country as their home. most of them did not have the means, and not to mention the liberty to return home, see their family, or any other thing that we are on this forum every day crying about!!!!!!!

this country has gone to the length of making a criminal out of every one of us who helps illegals, and they made it a felony now, to enter the us illegaly......... which means, most of us asylees who entered illegaly, or overstayed their visa would now be felons. not to mention the impact that this reform would have on voter regustration.

don't be ignorant and make general statemenst about things you know nothing about. look at the big picture.

i know there are those who say that "we don't owe them citizenship, and civil rights movement was about citizens of the US which these are not," and there are some valid points that the opposition makes, however, i wouldn't expect that much contempt from the very people who are now currently dealing with immigration and have gone through such heart wrenching experiences with them.

be respectful of others, you just might benefit from it!!!!!!!!

- against law that will make illegal immigration a felony, or:

let me get something straight...if you and your family were illegal and this HR 4437 thing were about to become law you would not protest on a monday because that would create an economic chaos...COME ON!!!!!!...who gives a shit about the day of the week!!!! wake up!!!!...this people is screaming and asking " I'am not a criminal....."....remember that this hr4437 law was the reason that trigger these protests....not legalization, this was brought up later.........get your facts straight.

both, but the first one triggered all this protests...thay also want some kind of legalization....those who hav a clean record, pay taxes, and pay a fee could eventually apply forcitizenship in no less than 10 years....

what pissed me off here, was not so much people's opinion on the issue, you can never force your philosophy on others-- after all, we as aylees should know this lesson best; but it was certain language used in response to some people's posts, which gave it an immediate air of disaproval which sounded as against latinos.

see: "Their fellow amigos!" " ....predominantly Latin Americans." "inconveniencing everybody else...."
as if protests were about convenience.............

ic ... if this is the case, I think I would changed my mind from neutral to "supporting" their action. I hope that HR4437 will not become a law. They already have a hard time living their life as illegal alien. now they gonna be consider as "criminal" ? ..

Oh, COME ON, you all politically correct, what are you implying at? You are really stupid due to your age probably. Yes, I live in predominantly Latin neighborhood, what's wrong with saying that? Before I lived for six years in predominantly black Harlem where your ass would not dare go, just because you are all words! And the reason why I lived there not because it was cheap, but because Columbia University was nearby and my ex-boyfriend (who is from Senegal, do you know where that is?) lived there too. And yes my fellow amigos inconvenienced me and my husband yesterday by not coming out to work. Whatever you hear in my wording is your problem, lady. No I think it is potty time for you. maybe your husband should reconsider and he should start hiring legal american citizens ( white ) instead of " fellow amigos"...he would have to pay way much more for their salaries........am I wrong ?? :p
