And some airlines lost thousands of dollars after recent strikes because passengers were pissed and swore not to fly with them again. Of course, the illegals life is not easy. But it's still easier than being back in their countries? They came here knowing it's going to be a long ride, with no light at the end of the tunnel. Again, I do sympathize with them, but walking out on work does not help their case and actually helps people who are against them.
annaraka said:you are an idiot.
that is the same as saying that the civil rights movement of the 1960s was illegal. it provided beneficial results, didn't it??? i mean you should know........
disrupting work???? what are you talking about. it IS a protest. you have no clue about the history of this country.
since when was any protest or demonstration clandestine???? that is the very purpose they serve!!!!!!!! is to get attention, dumbass!!!!!! they want to be heard....do you even know why they are protesting???
everyone is crying immigration reform, right??? well these people had the guts to stand up for it. while most people involved in this protest are latinos, their views resonate with a large majority of immigrants, and the benefits would not be one sided!!!!!!! there are over 11 million illegal immigrants in this country, and i guarantee you, more than half are non-latino.
these people are pushing for an immigrant friendly bill, and they respresent the interests of not just one miority group but all migrant groups........
back in the 1950s the protests were primarily about blacks, but also other minorities!!!!!
furthermore, even though they are illegal, these people are protected by the constitution of the united states. remeber, the constitution does not protect only americans, but all PEOPLE on american soil.
these people are not sayng that it is ok to be illegal. all they want to do is push for a bill that will make them legal, by paying back taxes and learning english... just as most of us, they left their homes for a better life, and now only know this country as their home. most of them did not have the means, and not to mention the liberty to return home, see their family, or any other thing that we are on this forum every day crying about!!!!!!!
this country has gone to the length of making a criminal out of every one of us who helps illegals, and they made it a felony now, to enter the us illegaly......... which means, most of us asylees who entered illegaly, or overstayed their visa would now be felons. not to mention the impact that this reform would have on voter regustration.
don't be ignorant and make general statemenst about things you know nothing about. look at the big picture.
i know there are those who say that "we don't owe them citizenship, and civil rights movement was about citizens of the US which these are not," and there are some valid points that the opposition makes, however, i wouldn't expect that much contempt from the very people who are now currently dealing with immigration and have gone through such heart wrenching experiences with them.
be respectful of others, you just might benefit from it!!!!!!!!

Minsk said:The bill HR-4437 they are protesting against could make all those 11 million people criminals!!! Isn't that awful considering that those people contribute to the budget 7 billion dollars in taxes annually! I think they have a full right to protest not only "on week-ends and days off".
14ksusha said:Well, I am not saying that they should be made criminals. I am an immigrant myself! Of course, I am supporting their cause, I just disagree with their way of protesting, just because it will not do anybody any good. It will ignite the anti-immigrant feelings and work against them, and it can be somebody's goal. By the way, in history, there were a lot of examples how small reactionist groups manipulated large groups of unhappy and disadvantaged people to their advantage.

14ksusha said:And what exactly is this about? Making demands and inconveniencing everybody else, including themselves? They didn't pick up bulk trash today, because there was a shortage of workers because of the protests. But guess who threw out those sofas and stoves? Their fellow amigos! WE live in a very ethnically diverse area, predominantly Latin Americans. While I do have a clue what this is all about and sympathize with legals or illegals, I don;t think walking out on jobs is the proper way to express your feelings and, moreover, demand benefits.
14ksusha said:Yes, Annafucka, your word processing skills are quite impressive. Can't say the same about thinking and reasoning. Must be something in the family history. I do hope they deny your GC based on that.

Please do not fight over this. I post my request to ask for your support. If you do not like us illegal immigrants, it is okay. We are not trying to make trouble. I want all of us to work together to push the government for a bill to grant amnesty to all illegal immigrants and not make us criminals. We want to be legal so that we do not have to hide and have the same rights as others. If we work together, we can all get to the promised land like Dr. King said. I want to say, yes we can! Si se puede! Si se puede!
