Hi,

Me and my husband got green card last year.
But unfortunately my father expired and no one is there to look after my mother in india.
We want to sponser my mother for green card.
So please advise me regarding it.
Do we need to have citizenship to sponser GC for my mom?
And generally how much time does it take to get GC for parents?

thanks in advance,

Sorry to hear on your loss..please accept my condolences.

A LPR (i.e. GC holder) cannot sponsor any greencards for anyone. Only a US citizen has that privilege. The USCIS states that very clearly on their website and this fact is widely known.

I have seen that the parents of GC holders gets 5 years visitor visa (I know at least 3 instances) -- this would be an option .

There is no such thing. Visits in B status are limited to a maximum of 12 months at a time.

B visa can be issued for 10 year period. It allows multiple entries during validity period. Each stay, however, is generally limited to 6 months, but may be extended for another 6 months.
