Please help with filling out N-400

I am filling out N-400 today on the basis of 5 year permanent resident....
Green card isssue date is Jan 30 2006...In 3 months it will complete 5 years, which makes me eligible to apply now.

On the application
Part 2...Should i choose option A ...I have been a permanent resident of the USA for at least 5 years......
Or i should choose option D.....other (explain).......i have been permanent resident for 3 months less then 5 years.

Do i really need a lawyer to file application? does it effect in anyway ?

You would select 5 year option even if you are applying up to 90 days early.
There's no need to have a lawyer file your application unless you are willing to waste your money.
