H1Problem

New Member
I have applied for my I 485 and i desperately need to change my company as they are exploiting me a lot.
So i was wondering if there is any new about the law which was supposed to be passed for changing jobs after 180 days of appling I485.

Thanks for your help.

No guidelines from the INS reg the AC21. Guidelines expected soon (atleast that is what the INS is saying)

I would say do not change your company unless you got fired. INS is not yet ready to implement new law which protects your I-140 not to revoked by your employer after 180 days of filing.

Most of GC people are undergoing such exploitation. At this low job market, it is better to stay and get GC. If yours is EB2, keep cool. Even if you switch over, you will be exploited by new company. Better keep cool and get GC. Good luck

since you are already into 485 , just stick to that shitty employer..
everybody goes through the same thing...
may be the 180 day rule will be demistified pretty soon...
wait until then....

Actually, there is a way you can change. If you have more than say 8-12 months to go before your I-485 is approved, then you can change jobs, and make sure you file for a new I-140 immediately. This way, you can apply the new I-140 to the I-485 when you come up for AOS. Otherwise, you don\'t have any options but to stick to where you are and bear it.

Market is very bad. Think twice before quitting. Wait till you get GC. If your company withdraws I140 you will be in dire street. Regulations will not be out until begining or end of summer (Visit Yahoo!India or immigration-law.com)

Met Lawyer y\'day ( to collect 485 Approval notice)... as everybody has said here market situation is not great and more over lawyer was saying "people who lost their job keep coming regularly to his office and cry and go" in a typical non sensitive lawyer speak. This is exactly what the situation is. Stick on and make the best of the xplotation situation, the industry has slowed down as we all know, so some explotation will be there. I am not trying to justify the blood suckers, but remember they are in business, put yourself in their shoes.

Bottomline, unless fired stick on just as somebody has adviced on this board. Work on your tech. skills and customer satisfaction.
