I received my first new US passport after short wait.
however, it doesn't look right. The two lines on text
on the very bottom are lined up against the far left edge
of the page. please see photo...

the photo was take from State Dept's sample passport website.
The top picture is the original photo and the bottom I have altered
to show you what my passport looks like. Please note the bottom
two lines of text.

If anyone received new US passport after becoming citizens these
few months in this year, please tell me if your US passport also look
like mine... or more like the one on the top... very much thanks for
your help, fellow citizens! :)

Hmm, that looks like it can still be read perfectly by a reader. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. However, you could call the passport hotline and enquire, I suppose.

As long as it's machine readable and the picture doesn't age you too much you should be fine :)

As long as the entire string of characters is readable, you are OK.

The first line starts with P< ..... and the second line starts with your passport number.

The OP will find out during his next travel when his passport gets scanned. ;)

thank you, it makes sense that way. I hope I don't get hassled because of this possible defect in my passport, no?

I think the passport agency in Washington, D.C., did a rush job but they coudln't be blamed. They handed me my first US passport in exactly 23 hours and 52 minutes after I took my oath at my USCIS office in Merrifield, Virginia!

Thats more like what I thought :D

BTW is there any 'intelligent' way to verify this ahead of travel time?

Aside from having a OCR reader available, contacting the US state department would probably be the best way raise this concern before travel.
Nowadays , passports have embedded RF chips that allow the same information to be read by a wireless scanner as a redundant means to scan passport information.

He can take his parrport to the nearest airline kiosk (Airport check in kiosk) and ask them to scan it to see if they can get his iformations in. I know Delta swipes passport before international trips.

To be completely honest, if you look anything like that dude, passport isnt your biggest problem. Try Rogaine now!

Side effects may include chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness, or dizziness; sudden, unexplained weight gain; swelling of hands or feet; scalp irritation or redness; unwanted facial hair growth.
