hi
am on a f-1 visa thru 2007 for a phd - after 2 semesters did an internship as CPT - curricular practical training. Company has offered to sponsor H-1 and GC.

could you please advise me on

1) f-1 to H-1 without completing degree.
2) impact of non-completion of degree on Gc
please note: i don't have a ms - came straight after btech for PhD

thanks a ton
abhi

1. If the H1 is based on the degree before Ph.D, yes no problem
2. Your non immigrant requirements of F visa has been neatly handled by you, by going through H1. So you should be fine

thanks jaxen

i was just wondering if it'd be enough to let the company lawyer handle this or should i also hire a lawyer on my own or maybe do a few consultations with some lawyers - i was thinking of sheela murthy.

also is there a significant benefit to going back to school and getting a MS before doing the H-1 and GC process -
if chances of approval go from 80% to 82-83% then it's not an issue - but an increase of 5-10% in success rate would deftly be a factor.

finally - seattle Vs orlando, florida - green card processing times
- i've seen on websites that dates vary widely but some seniors who took jobs in florida got green cards within 2 years
so the prospect of finishing an MS and then doing a job in florida
(a lot of ifs in the process) does seem a valid option.

Should not be a big deal requiring consultancy. This is not a complicated matter, but if you will feel satisfied than go ahead and consult.
Yes a US degree is always beneficial.
2yr GC in Florida? Is that a joke? Browse, I140 and I485 forums...
