Any reason why this immigration agency has to make families suffer for so long? it's an example of inefficiency, carelessness and non productiveness. The opposite of what this country is. Why?

Sorry, but your question is like the one from 10 year old kids.
Everybody who learned enough knows government agencies are ineffective, no matter it's the US or other country as there is no competition against them. What answer do you expect ?

Just my opinion

I think the answer is very simple.. USA is discouraging immigrants. There has to be an indirect hint from the Govt. to INS department. Otherwise, this nonsense is not possible.

Also keep in mind, this does not affect people living in USA (meaning native Americans) .

Then there is another issue, clerks and other working in immigration departments are probably getting some kind of reservation to get those gobs. Those are not the brightest of the bulbs. Generally coming to this job with less than high school degree.. What kind of service do you expect from those?

One last but not the least thing is that democrats are more liberal and republicans are not.. if you see.. Worst DO are those areas which are highly influenced by republicans..

This is just an opinion, I hope no one on this forum is offended by this and people may have very different views about this.

The funny thing about that is except for the Indians, everyone in the US is an immigrant  This country is a country that was populated by almost every country on the earth.

I don't think that every USCIS officer is against immigrants. That would be wrong to assume: just like comments people make about a race of people saying "they are all alike" That is definitely not true. I think you take the good and the bad.

Every where you go there is good and bad. Every country, every race, every place. EVEN ON THIS FORUM.

My heart goes out to those who are subjected to the "bad": just the same as when someone commits a "crime" but all are not the same. Even in the best of families, best of places, there is a combination of good and evil. If we judge a person, county, government, judge rightly.

I will say this, Desire for "POWER" is a reason. "MISUSE OF POWER" "A FEELING OF SUPERIORITY" All these things play a part. It is a sad revelation, but nevertheless, true :o

I have often seen the same type of mistreatment when a person is poor and need services, in families, even in churches. It is everywhere, and when a person is in a receiving position, they get the FULL BLOW."

WHAT TYPE OF PERSON DO YOU DESIRE TO BE?

USCIS has issues...

My two pennies:

"Some" of the people who work for the USCIS are full of crap. This is a known fact...

There is an attitude of superiority by most USCIS employees towards immigrants, after all, you want to be part of their society, in ther own country. So, the tendency is treat you like an imbecile, especially if you have a heavy foreign accent... ;) For example, have you ever gone to any DMV office? If you want to experience bull of huge proportions, visit one of those hell wholes...

USCIS is a huge bureaucracy stuffed by incompetent people who unfortunately have been given some power, from 9-5 daily. So, at each opportunity, there is a need to assert their control and power over you.. :o
Worst of all, there is no adequate supervision of some of these officers. If the purpose of thing is not understood, abuse is inevitable...

US govt need to increase staff for USCIS to eliminate the backlog in all cases under its juridisction. Imagine taking the 3 billion dollars being spend in Iraq daily to revamp USCIS and staff it with competent people. Can you imagine fi they hire an additional 20 people per office to eliminate backlogs, can't they clean all those back cases in a year?

yes i agree, most of the employees in INS have developed superiority complex. superiority complex is actually a psychological defense mechanism in which feelings of superiority counter or conceal feelings of inferiority as psychologist would put it. what are these people hiding? what do they feel inferior about? your guess is as good as mine :)
