Philadelphia Transfer Cases

which notice date is philly office considering ??

i was wondering which notice date is philly office considering when they update it on the prcessing times chart on the website. Is it the notice date on the transfer notice received from vermont center or the notice date on the letter sent by the local office??
As many have mentioned already their cases were transferrred by the vermont office many months earlier and the local office only sent them a receipt notice recently asking them not to contact them till 2005. But the notice dates on the two letters r different. Transfer date on vermont letter is different from the receipt notice from philly office... the receipt number issued by philly office is also different and it can't be used on the case status check online as it is only 11 characters long...
My friend had a transfer notice date on the vermont letter as may 15,03 and for the past few weeks that was the processing date mentioned on the website but it changed to dec 2,02. So far he has not received any notice from the local office even though was his transfer notice date was May 15,03 and that is exactly what they were processing...... it is strange and confusing

I just received an email from my lawyer stating about the interview notice on 09/09.
I am not sure about the Interview notice or other details, as the lawyer will be mailing the letter tomorrow.
I just applied for my 3rd EAD last week. My 485 case was transferred to Philadelphia on 02/2004.
I will keep you all updated once I receive the letter.
485 ==>VSC (RD) 09/20/2002
Transferred to Philadelphia 02/04 (no letter from PHL about the transfer.)
Only got an transfered letter from VSC.

Ok... here are the details.
Date of Appointment : 09/09/2004.
Case type : I-485
Required doc: Driver's license, marriage cert., passport, updated job letter, paystub (not specified how many months), evidence that they live in our jurisdication(rental/mortgage agreement etc.).

I applied (mailed) my EAD renewal on 8/11. The notice date is also 8/11. So, I don't think my EAD had triggered this interview.

Is their anything else I should also consider taking. Pl. let me know.

Advice on Pennsylvania senators or congressman

My case was transfered to Philadelphia local office June last year. Since then we have never received anything from Philly. My lawer suggests me send a letter to a state senator or congressman. Since my lawer is working in CT, and he is not familiar with PA, could any one give me advice which senator or congressman is better? Thanks a lot.

We are alone

Guys, We are alone!

Most of my friends had been approved. Some of them were filed in 2002; some in 2003; some were transferred to other offices. Most of them approved. Philadelphia is one of the slowest offices nationalwide. I had contacted congressman and ombudsman. Will contact senator later.

Please write to senators, congressmen, ombudsman to ask:
. Why Philadelphia is so slow?
. Philadelphia is processing Dec. 2002 cases. Why our cases are still pending?
. USCIS website shows that it need 'several months' to schedule an interview. Why it spent 1-2 years?

We are alone. Nobody will help us, if we don't fight.

Thanks

To be honest i do not even think that they are following these notice dates. As I had mentioned earlier my friend's notice date was 15 may 2003 and philly office was processing that date before changing it to dec2,02 on aug 11th,04. But neither did he get any letter or enquiry or nuthing. I guess the philly office just goes by its own whims and fancy.

To yellowcard: my personal opinion

I think only complaining the slow progress of Philadelphia may not help that much. They can argue that they already do their 'best' based on current resources they have.

I would suggest you to show the evidence of your injury because of their 'slowness' to strengthen your case . For example, loss of promotion opportunity, multiple EAD & AP... etc.

If you can provide as much evidence as you can get, that may help them understand why it is 'their problem' to delay your case.

22 months after transfer to Phila...

Hello All,
Today, I have received a receipt letter from Phila Office for my transferred I-485. Transfer to Phila happened 22 months ago.. .The letter reads like Phila Office wants to treat my case as if they just received it today. A Phila office internal receipt number seems to be associated with my file in the letter. . It states the average waiting time is 15 months. The letter is a template and the place where the application specific info is written contains "November 25th 2005" (Font and format has a discontinuity in that line of the letter). The complete sentence on that line reads something like "Do not contact the Phila Local Office unless you do not receive an interview letter by November 25th 2005".

In 2003, on numerous occasions my attorney was told that someone was working on the case and the case is there and there is a number assigned to it. Just last month, I was told in person that the case was here and there was a number associated with our case otherwise information officer could not see my file on the computer, these were the officers exact words when I insisted that how she was sure that my file is in the building.

Do you know any similar cases and how they fared after the letter? Based on the time between this sort of letter and the interview letter from local office, do people go back to the end of the line after the receipt or the receipt is just a template and it acknowledges that someone is working on it and an interview letter may be expected very soon? Two wildly different interpretations...

What do you say? I remember MGM had the same letter back in January 2004. I wonder if MGM is still around.

Thank you. Regards.

Ask your lawyer to send an inquiry

I think you should ask your lawyer to send an inquiry with this letter attached and copy of transfer notice from VSC to ask for the interview letter using their argument of "15 months".

Also you ever renewed EAD after the transfer. Attach that too. You should get an interview letter long time ago. Use certified mail with signature confirmation. If there is no response within 2 months, send this information to your local congressman or senator to initiate another inquiry.

Good luck!

We are in such a big black hole!

Turkish Engineer,

My case was transferred in Sep. 2003 by VSC. Philadephia noticed me in Mar. 2004 and asked me not to contact them before July 2005. I don't believe they will schedule an interview for me in the near future. Thus, I visited Philadelphia office. It's useless. I contacted ombudsman. Didn't get any response yet. I will contact the senator. Don't think the senator will be helpful. But I need to try.

I believe you should contact the senator as well as the ombudsman. I also suggest you contact Mr. Rajiv Khanna. Your case could be helpful for the lawsuit.

Transfer after 26 months waiting

After waiting 26 months and taking 2 fingerprints my case was transferred to Philly local office on Sept 8th. Need to wait for another 15 months for an approval.

The long wait is over

Wow!!! what a relief :p
Got our passport stamped today.
Well, guys here is my story!!!
Filed I-140/485/131/765 all together at VSC on 09/20/2002. Got my I-140 approved somewhere in 08/2003.
I lost my job in Dec'2003. In the meantime, I got an RFE from VSC asking for my employment letter and medicals in Jan/04.
I changed the company who filed my GC. I started working with the new company. Replied to RFE in Jan/04. Got my case transferred to Philadelphia in Feb/2004.
I got my second FP from PHL in Mar/04
I worked for that other compay for some time and since I got an better opportunity, I switched my job and moved out of DE where I use to live for 7yrs. I am now in PA.
I submitted AR-11 (change of Address) to Philadelphia in July/04.
My second EAD was on the way to expire on 11/04.
I submitted the papers for my second EAD and on very next day I received the interview notice Aug/04. Our interview was scheduled today 0n 09/09.
It was in the afternoon.
We reached one hour before the interview. Took all papers with us. All originals as well as copies. Most of them were there for citizenship. I hardly saw anybody schedule for GC.
The nice guy called us inside, took our finger print and asked us to follow to his office.
He asked me about my job.
Then, asked for my 2003 tax papers.
Then he said, do you guys got an passport. We said, yes!!
Gave him our passport. He asked, do you really want this ? We smiled, and said yes!!!
He stamped our passport and said this is the last chance if you have any questions.
I just asked him about my EAD that I have submiited, he said, "you don't have to worry about it. But, don't think of getting that money back. It is with the government. But, you can give a shot".
Well, he explained us about the citizenship etc. and we were out within 20-25 minutes.
The guy who took our interview was very nice and professional guy.
That's it!!!!!! Any questions, I will be glad to answer it.

Since, my case was Transferred to Philadelphia on Feb/04, I thought I will not get an interview before, 05.
But, it seems, due to my change of Address, I could have got earlier interview. You never know.......

Best of Luck guys and Thankyou all for everything. This forum is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

sgw,

Congratulations on your finally getting the approval.

As you see from my earlier posting I got transferred after 26 months of waiting yesterday, so still in shock and anger. Here are some of the initial questions I have:

1) I was well versed with filing the EAD and AP applications at VSC by myself. Where do we apply EAD and AP for transferred cases. I have my AP application pending at VSC would that get transferred too?

2) Where do we find the status of our applications after it moves to Philly?

3) Does your lawyer reside in PA/DE area? What I am thinking is maybe your lawyer influenced to get an interview earlier for you. In which case I would like to hire him/her.

4) How long does it take for the file to reach the local office from VSC?

5) Do you have the Philly office director's address/email.

6) Did they give a reason why they transferred the case?

Thanks for any input that you may provide.
