onemorephilly,
Welcome aboard to this endless journey.

Any body got interviews recently ?

Stoevaal, what heppened during 8/11/03 interview?

Stoevaal, I hope your inretview in Philadelphia on 8/11/03 went well. Any news?

No interview date for Turkish Engineer?

Turkish Engineer,

Did you receive any appointment for interview at Philly yet? It seems your case has been transferred for 10 months.

Did you visit the Philly office personally? I am just curious since I am in the same area.

Take care.

No interview letter yet. Hoping soon though. I do not plan to go in person to Philadelphia until 12 months has passed. The phone message tells "come for inquiry for this type of case I-485 after 12 months".

Interview Went Well

Even though we were asked to come for interviews at 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., we both arrived at about 9 a.m. and by 10 a.m. we informed the lady on the 3-rd floor that we are there for the interview. At about 10:30, for our surprise, we both were invited to enter together. The officer asked us immediately to give fingerprints and to sign some papers. Then we entered a small room, we sweared to tell the trueth and he started asking us questions about how we met, when we got married, where, to show him pictures, etc. We were married for about 3 months, when my husband applied for I -485 and added me, so I guess they had to check for our marriage legitimacy. The second major issues, and the one we were really concerned about, was the fact that my husband was still on his J1 visa and on one of his previous documents (I-20 from the first university he attended) it said there were federal funds involved and Bulgaria had a list of specialist it requres back. In fact, both were not true and mu husband had an official letter stating he is not subject of the 2 year rule for return into his home country. As the offficer put it:
"You probably know more about that then me, so why don't you explain to me the inconsistency of these two documents" And we did.
He was satisfied and then turn to me to ask me about my job, which turned out to be a topic of interest for him and we spent 20 min at least talking about credit card issues.
The whole interview was about 40-50 min and we shawed him alot of pictures :).
At the end he said he is happy whith what he heard, but unfortunately we can not get stamps on our passports today, because he first has to get immigrant visa numbers for us and this will take a bout a week. So, we should get a letter in the mail in about a week. He congratulated us.
A little disappointed we left. To our surprise again, the letter arrived in one week exactly. The officer had told us that only one of us need to go to the office for the stamps and that no documents are needed, so my husband went alone.
It turned out both of us had to be there and we needed to bring all original documents with us including EAD cards and travel documents. We got the passports stamped this second time around. Now we are waiting for the actual plastics.
I hope this was helpful. Good LUCK to everybody! I'll post when we get the actual cards.
P.S. We also used some help form a congressman. In our case it was one of the associates of the representative. It was invaluably helpful in our situation.

Congratulations!

Congratulations Stoevaal, to you and your husband. Good luck to you, I hope Green Card will help you take advantage of the opportunities that are offered in this counrty.

I wonder where libai is! His/her tern must be coming soon, if not already interviewed.

Re: Update from National Customer Center ....

Hi Friends,

Today spoke to an officer at the National Center (the number is available on the BCIS website ) to find out the case status at Philly after the transfer.

The lady was rude. She told me that the processing that was done at the Vermont Center may not be relevant to the Local center and that they can take their own time to judge the case. And also that they will have their own dates of processing .When i asked her that the case has taken more than 540 days she said that the time of 540 days is for the Vermont Center and does not have any sort of bearing on the Local center and added that it can take 1 year or even 2 years or more and cited the case of Arlington center which is taking close to 2 years now for scheduling interviews!!!

I guess we will have to pay them a visit at Philly to find out what is really happening and if they are having any estimates for calling interviews.

Cheers

I asked them whether they can give me a number that I can contact Philly office directly. They said: no.

for Yellowcard

The NCSC may not be helpful in lot of cases (They sometime gave wrong information). But in this case, there may not exist a public phone line for checking case status.

I think you have the right to choose to write to Pilly office or pay a visit at least to ask your case status. On their web site, they said you could visit their office or by mail:

Visiting Our Office:
Public Hours:
The Philadelphia District Office is open to the public from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, and 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday. Please see section below on walk-ins. Our office closes in observance of all Federal holidays....

Good luck and keep us posted your progress.

lowell,

thanks. I will visit Philly a few weeks later, because my file could be on the way to Philly at this time.

My questions:

1. How many days does it need from VSC to Philly? Anybody know it?

2. Anybody ever visited Philly to check the status?

Hi turkish engineer,

My online message read that my case was transferred to philadelphia for a interview. Mine is a RD-3/5/03 case (I-485 receipt=EAC 0214351***). My I-140 was approved based on national interest.

I am hoping that the experts in the forum will be able to help me with their experience.

How long after transfer do they typically schedule a interview?
What documents do they generally require?

Please help me with your experience

many thanks

Any one with experience with the interview in NIW cases?

Many thanks for your help.

gmc_17222,
just click on "search" at the bottom of one of my messages and you will see my postings. Unfortunately I do not have any more news. My current understanding is 12 months from the transfer date as the phone message says in Philadelphia.

Try to relax read something enjoyable about destiny, my personal recomendation is Tolstoy's "War and Peace". I agree that it is quite a distraction to just for Tolstoy to say what he saw as "Fundamentals of Human Destiny". I have read the translation of course, Penguin's edition. And when you finally get your Green Card, you can look at your copy of W&P in your personal library and smile and remember these times nostalgically. At least that's what I hope to do.

Please help - I485 Transfer to Phily

Hi guys,

My I485, EAD and AP transfered to Phily in last month. I was leaving in DE and moved to Hartford, CT. I sent AR-11 form. But as you know BCIS never got that. I called National Customer service center few weeks back to verify the address change and changed my address to Hartford, CT. That lady was nice and told me to send Change of Address letter to Phily office also.

So friends, what its that mean. Does Phily office transfers my case to Hartford after knowing this or they still going to process my case. Because I checked BCIS Phily office is not serving Hartford area.

Please help.

Thanks

E-filed EAD approved per online message. New site for timeline.

Here is what has been happening with my application. My e-file for EAD had been approved. Applied online on 9/3/2003. Approved 11/26/2003. Waiting for the letter and the card to arrive. Also check out the web site for Philadelphia District Office for I-485 timeline in Philadelphia. Since our cases has been transferred, I am assuming with TD used as RD on this page, we could have some better idea about the timeline. So far I was thinking 12 months from transfer was pretty solid. I no longer think so, since mine passed 12 months. This web site I am assuming is more accurate than any other. It claims as of 11/14/2003 they were processing cases with RD 8/20/2002. They think it should not take more than 30 days from this date to complete the adjudication.

https://egov.immigration.gov/graphics/cris/jsps/index.jsp#
and choose Philadelphia, PA in the list.
