Permanent resident seeking a way to become a citizen faster

I am a permanent resident for almost 3 years at this point. I would like to join the NAVY seals but I cant because I have to be a citizen. I don't want to wait another 2 years, but that point my drive will be gone.
I have however the option of getting married to my girlfriend. If I do will I be able to apply for naturalization right after the 3 years of being permanent resident? Or will I have to wait 3 years from the time of marriage to apply in which case this curse of action would be utterly pointless)? Also: How long will the process of naturalization itself take?

also:

The capthca things are driving me insane, can u please remove them, i have wasted five minutes typing in the correct letters each time just to be rejected becasue of some glitch. these capcha boxes are HORRIBLE.

You need 3 full years of marriage to a US citizen to qualify for citizenship through marriage. So you'd qualify sooner with the regular 5 year rule, since you aren't married yet.

The naturalization process itself is about 3-6 months for most people these days.

The captcha will be gone after you make a certain number of posts (I think 5).

Could you please clearify (You need 3 full years of marriage to a US citizen to qualify for citizenship through marriage) what about your green card. I think you have to be 3 years as a green card holder too. Please clearify .

Yes, you must have had your GC for 3 years, but you must also be married to a US citizen for 3 years. So, if you marry after 3 years of having your GC, you must wait another 3 years at least if you want to apply through marriage to a US citizen, but by that time, you will have had 5 years as a permanent resident and can apply for regular naturalisation.

I didn't say that 3 full years of marriage to a US citizen is the only thing you need to qualify based on marriage. You need those 3 years of marriage AND must meet the other requirements including (but not limited to) 3 years as a permanent resident and good moral character.
