I went to asylum interview January, 2008 and AO gave me paper telling, come and picked up asylum decision in two weeks, but the day I had to picked up the decision, they call me and told they will mail me decision. now more than seven months pass I still did not get the decision, I wrote to senators and congressman but still I don't have decision. Please any one have similar experience share with me, and let me no why my decision delay. Is any thing I can do to speed up to get the decision? please help me, very hard to function daily life with unresolved immigration statues.

Make an infopass appointment and find out what happened. You can also go to the asylum office and find out what happened.

I did try every thing, I knew

thank you for response. I made info-pass appointment and visit them they told, they don't know anything and files in asylum office, then I went to asylum office (eight times) they keep telling, they don't have decision yet, when they get decision they will mail me and "usually its take up to five years". according to congressman inquiry reason for delay "unresolved Issues". I did try every option I knew. what are other options left for me? please let me know.

this happens. U r stuck in backround check backlogs. Or you still have your US visa.

My bro applied asylum in Nov 2007 and got recommended approval from asylum office on march 2008 but still no final approval due to background name check delay.

FBI name check is to blame for all the immigration delays and backlogs.
I wish all the FBI name check officials go to hell!

This is a very incompetent and unfair agency to lawful immigrants.

thank you for response, My visa already expired. USCIS told to congressman reason for delay " unresolved issues". He told me nothing do within law.

is it possible to file "writ of mandamus" law suit against USCIS? for delaying asylum decision. please respond, I need advice. Please fellow members in the blog, if you have experienced similar situation share with me.

my bro has been waiting longer than you. you are stuck on background check delay just like my brother and millions of other lawful immigrants. my bro's case would have been over but because FBI background check is taking too many months long, he is also in limbo.

I did write to congresswoman, USCIS OMBUDSMAN, FBI director MIKE CANNON to consider finishing the NAME CHECK but got no response from them.

It's very fraustating!
