I just cannot believe I got my passport and citizenship certificate back... I had only applied for passport on Wednesday Last week that was 6th Aug and got it on 14th Aug and that too without paying extra for expedite... Wish my wife's case is done as fast as this...

Maybe you should try taking proof of travel and applying in person? Don't they give it to you in 1 day?
Yes they do, there are 18 centers national wide and they mostly far away from someone's home. We have 50 states and 18 centers.
S/he should try and it might be close to the house.

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone went to an office directly to get their passport. I am sure it is guaranteed but I want to make sure there are no possible delays. My plan is to go on a Friday and fly out on a Sunday. I heard sometimes they give it same day.

In the month of July, my family supose to go to India and on the day supose to leave at 9.30 flight and when I was checking everyone's passport I suddenly come to know that one of my daughter's passport was expired fews months ago so I had to cancel to trip all family and cost me $600 for cancelation.Seconday in the morning I called national passport agency to make appointment to renew the passport shoked that the New York office have time only after next 10 days and my family was desperate to leave as soon as possible.The day was friday and I luckyly got that comming monday's appointment in Philadelphya. After 3 hours driving I arrive with my daughter and wife there at 1 Oclock and fillup the form to renew the passport.Went to info window, the lady checked my application and gave me ticket and asked me to wait, there was lot of people was waiting, One important point I reserved their seat for tuesday evening and get the copy of the the reservation.After an hour and half of wait my daughter's name called, The lady was quick, since the info window lady already checked the form and the required docs, this lady didnt take time to finish.After finish she asked me to pay $160.00 and I gave my credit card to her and she gave me a receipt and asked me to wait till 3.00Oclock, at that time it was almost 2.00 oclock, so we decided to go out for the luch in nearby street and as we finished our lunch comfortably in good India restaurant that time is up to pickup the passport.Since we was nearby we quickly approch the pickup window and given the receipt and my Id and the laday given me My daughter's new passport with original birth certificate.That it We arrive at home in NY at 6pm.My wife want to leave same day since the flight time was 9.30 but we have to pay another $600.00 if they want to change the date so they left next day.That is my exprience about geting the new passport within two hours.
So, dont worry just make the appoint with nearby passport center and go with your ticket and all required documents and you will get it within hours.

If you need to travel, you can get the PP same day, going to your local PP office.

PS: You wld require to show them the travel document(Itinerary from airline, showing your travel <14 days) then they will give it to you the same day in about one hr.

I'm on a similar boat in NYC and have my interview on Oct-7. It looks like it could take anywhere between 1-2 months for oath in NYC and then on to passport and Indian Visa (or oci card) which would cut it close to our trip to India in early december.
Do you know if an oath can be delayed? Or if i can travel to India (on Indian passport) after oath but before applying for US passport? Do you have any recommendations?

You cannot travel on your Indian passport after oath because you will no longer be an Indian citizen after oath and also your green card will be taken away at the ceremony. You can make an appointment at regional passport agency to get expedited passport , usually the same day or next. After that it is another day for getting a tourist visa to India (OCI takes 1-2 months).
You can also request the intervewing officer to speed up your oath ceremony date. It will help if you can present your travel itinerary to the interviewing officer.

Anyhow I didn't received my Naturalization certificat and Name change document. I called the passport agency and was told that I'd get it in a week and if I don't to call back. Would anyone know if it will be sent via priority mail also and if so how to track it? Thanks a million.

From my personal experience, you shd be able to get the Oath date by then, if you dont get Oath date, get Info pass and tell them you have to travel, and ask them to give it in writing, that they will NOT send out the Oath date when you are travelling.
If you finish your Oath, then pay the expedited PP fee and get the Passport and get visa from Indian Consulate. This is the route that I took.
