My passport expired recently and I have interview for naturalization in next month, should I renew my passport before I attend the interview. Or can I take just my expired passport with me. Please advise.

Thanks!!

Though its not required for N-400 interview, it will be better to always have a valid passport. just in case of emergency if you need to travel to your native country....
Also, not everyone get same day Oath. It might take a week or 2, or could be even few months. Just think is it ok not to have a valid passport until then?

I agree with the general sentiment that only having an expired passport over extended time is usually not a good idea. But I would *not* advise the OP to send off his passport for renewal before the naturalization interview. Renewing passports is a process that for most native countries takes weeks and months, generally on an unpredictable timeline. Even the expired native PP has the relevant data an IO might be interested in; not having it with you for the interview can delay your natz decision, depending on the personal history.

But I'd send it for renewal after the interview, since your native PP is not needed for a later oath ceremony at all.
