Part-time H1B ???

I was a full-time worker on an H1B. Recently, my company's reduced my income to 50%, and told me they would have the lawyer convert my full-time H1B to part-time H1B. My questions are:

1. Is this really doable (since I have never heard about this)?
2. How long would the procedures take (step by step)?
3. Can I travel out of the U.S. and come back without any legal problem?

Thank you in advance for all inputs.

1. Yes
2. Depends on Service center
3. yes, since this is not an extension, but an amendment.

part time h1B

I am in the same boat except the fact that I am now full time again. But my approval hasn't yet come. I got the notification on
1st July( California Center. ) I got some good advise from Jaxen about this. I also talked to my lawer and he also said I can travel.
but I am still confused. :)

Just like that

Hi Jaxen,
may be this is a little stupid of me . I am confused because I don't understand the difference between the amendement and the H1 B extension. Looks like both get a new H1B approval letter. And also the confusion I have is this. I am getting married in December and the lawer said I can still use the old H1B approval to apply for H4. I am a little worried about the complication it can have. I don't know much about this stuff so naturally I am confused. But you have been a great help to me. Thanks for that.
