Parking tickets and disputes on credit history

I heard that parking tickets and disputes on charges can delay GC approval.

AT&T called me today and claimed that I am their customer having some unpaid amount when I have been with MCI for a long time. They threatened to send the case to a credit bureau. My wife received a bill from Adelphia when we never had an account with them.

Of couse I don't want to pay, however, if these can delay my approval ....

Any ideas?

What makes me think so

TheRealCanadian,

I think I heard the ( perhaps incorrect) info correctly :-)). I guess I tend to believe as just in case it is correct and I want GC done so much.

But what makes you not believe it? I would be happy if it is not correct.

not affect GC

Traffic or parking violations don't affect GC unless you are arrested for that. Disputes on credit history have nothing to do with GC. It is civil issue.

it is common sense

a ticket be it parking/speeding or any other type of moving violation is a misdemeanor at best, which is not looked at by the INS. Only felony offences such a hit and drunk, drunk driving etc.

also, your credit hIstory has no bearings on your GC simply because the credit bureaus and INS database aren't related. On a separate note, not paying any outstanding bills simply because you know you have not incurred it does not mean you are not legally liable for it should you choose to ignore it instead of officially dispute it. The company has every right to report you to a credit bureau and then it'll be up to you to get your credit straight if you don't fight it right away.

Something similar happened with me while PG&E put me as delinquent in my credit report.
I wrote to credit beuro and got the negative entry deleted.
