Hi all,

My parents get their GCs in just 2 months. I sent the applications on 09/14/2006, and they received their GCs in mail on 11/13/2006. We lived in Baltimore area. The applications (I-130, I-485, etc) were sent together to Chicago, then transferred to California and got approved. No interview. What I did was just following the instructions to fill the forms and submit related supporting materials.

Starting my own GC application, I got many many information from this great forums, I want to say "thanks" and good luck for all of you.

Congratulations!

Congratulations!
My parents' application was sent to CSC too, hopefully there will be good news for us soon!

Hi,

I am trying the same to apply for my in-laws. Can you please let me know what all applications you have to send along with i130 and i485. I know that you have to submit the affidavit (864). But do we also need to send the mediacal examination report ? Also we live in Dallas area. Will my in-laws be eligible for GC process under DORA program?

Thanks in advance.

Receipt of GC for Parents within 58 days.

I have a question for you. Did your parents go through stamping of passports which is done generally after finger printing, but before the approval of I 485. In my case, I did not go through the stamping process. as, I received the G C directly after the finger printing was completed. Hence this question. This is just to see whether stamping has been done away with. Thanks in advance.

Hi:

There is no such thing as stamping "generally after finger printing [sic], but before the approval of I485." If you are referring to the I551 stamp - that is given only upon an approved application before the I551 card arrives, and many offices do not stamp anymore.

I 551 stamping

Hi pianoplayer'

Kindly clarify as to I 551 stamping, as I could not get it. I was under the impression that passport needs to be stamped before we receive the G.C. Could you please elaborate on I 551 ? Thank you in advance.

Hi:

The most common procedure is that when someone is approved at the interview, there is NO STAMPING. They leave the interview, usually receive a "welcome letter" shortly after that, followed by the GC (I551 card) after that. Most district offices have eliminated passport stamping.

A few offices, when someone is approved at the interview, will stamp the passport with the I551 STAMP - this stamp is a valid I551 and operates as a GC until the actual GC arrives. Most offices have eliminated this practice.

An I551 stamp is, and was, NEVER issued before an applicant is approved.

I 551 stamping

Hi Pianoplayer,

Thank you very much for your reply with clarity. I received the G.C. without going through the interview. Hence I think the issue of passport stamping did not arise at all in my case. Thank you once again,

Yes, you need to send the medical examination report.
I don't know about DORA program.
