Thanks for everybody in the forum for the help you all provided. I personally want to thank Anahit, ari4u, needurhelp for answering my private messages to them.

Last night, when I tried that ONLINE system I saw the I-485 CASE NOT FOUND message. I thought I will see the approval in a week day’s time. This morning (March 1 2006) at 0500AM, I received an email message from USCIS informing that my parent’s I-485 was approved without interview and a card was ordered. Based on experiences of others, I am hoping to get the physical card in 10 days time. The I-130 status in the ONLINE system still shows that it is being processed. The total time from start to finish was 142 days. Timelines are posted below. Local District Office is Los Angeles and Service Ceter is California. I filed the papers with Chicago Lock Box.

Here is the email I received -

Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
Current Status:
On March 1, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.
Thanks again for all your help.

Ari4u- Please update my time line for the benefit of others. Thanks again.

Congratulations to you and your Mom, SimiDude!!!

With the RFE that's still under 5 months... Suuuuuper fast!!

Please stick around till the rest of us finish our parents' cases ;)

Oh.. I just remembered I have a question..
A month after filing, I'm still not able to add my Parents' case to my on-line portfolio. It still says when I try to add I-130, I-485, I-131 receipt nos.

"Attempting to add a case that does not exist. Check the app receipt number"

I'm frustrated seeing this message everytime, I try to add - how soon were you able to add your parents' case online? Thanks.

Congratulations!!!!!

I'm happy that your case is approved.

I was waiting eagerly for your case to be approved so that we (Later filers) would get pretty good idea about our own cases.

Congratulations again.

jenimmi,

We were able to access the case information the day we received the NOA.
Of course even though I was able retrive the Case Numbers from the encashed checks, I wasn't able to access the info.

I other words, we were able to access the info two or three days from ND

Able To Access Online Info All Times.

jenimmi,
Thanks.
I am able to access the information the same day I received the notices (I-131, 485, 130). Unlike some other people on this forum, I was able to track everything on the ONLINE syayem. The ONLY thing that I had a problem deciphering was an email I got on Feb 22, 2006. Please see my earlier posting for more details.
Pease let me know if I can be of further help.
Regards,
-SimiDude

Thanks needurhelp and SimiDude. You guys are always helpful!

I guess I'm one of the unlucky lot that will not be able to track the app on-line, ever. When I called the 1-800 Cust service # about this a few days ago, after an hour's wait, an officer came on the line and said -
"we know that the system has a glitch and that's why you are not able to add the case to your portfolio, but we cannot do anything about it. And it's only a month since the RD, so keep trying..."

I thought this wasn't helpful at all. The officer at least could have forwarded this issue to the right group or person, so I will be able to add the case online. She just told me what I already know about their system. What a waste of time!

I couldn't even find the case on their search page:
https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/caseStatusSearchDisplay.do

When I do a search, the results return:
Case not found.

The case # begins with MSC.

Simidude,

Congratulations! That was very fast. Hope other cases also move quickly. Makes me wonder, we should have gone with AOS!!!

Question about I-130 Approval

Thanks to everybody for the congratulatory messages.
My I-130 which I filed for my mother is still shoiwng as being processed on the ONLINE system.
My questions is
(1) DO you think the I-130 needs to be approved before the physical card is mailed.? Please let me know what you think.
(2) Since my parent I-485 is approved without interview ( she does not have a visa satmp in her passport), she needs to have the physical card before she can travel outside the country. Can you please post how many days it ususlly takes to get the plastic card in the mail.?
(3) Can she use her approved Advance Parole now, which is valid till Oct 2006, if she plans to travel before she gets the Physical card?
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Ari4u- I cleaned my private message box.

I don't understand how can I-130 be in process if I-485 has been approved? Per Ari4u, "if by the time of interview the I-130 is still not approved then it would be adjudicated during the time of interview along with the I-485." Now, you didn't have an interview, but I beleive, your I-130 would still be adjudicated with I-485. I wouldn't trust the on-line system.

"Up to 3 weeks from the day of the approval notice" - they say. Usually takes a week.
(3) Can she use her approved Advance Parole now, which is valid till Oct 2006, if she plans to travel before she gets the Physical card?
Technically, yes. After all, you paid for it. ;) Although, it would be a bit confusing, since they could probably see her current status in the system.

I-130 establishes a relationship between the petitioner and the applicant and also issues an immigrant visa number for the applicant. For immediate relatives of a USC, an immigrant visa number is readily available, so I-130 approval timeline only depends on the work-load of that service center where it is currently being processed.

Having said that, I-485 approval depends on the I-130 to be approved. In your case, the I-130 is already approved as the I-485 approval was based on the issued immigrant visa number. I would not depend on the online status as i still cannot see my I-130 status online. I guess the service centers do a pretty poor job of updating the case status online. NBC seems to be a bit better.

AP is valid as long as the AOS application is pending. It is invalid in your case as the GC is already approved. Using AP would mean the applicant is trying to enter the US using a "Pending AOS" status whereas the A# would show up the applicant's record as being a permanent resident. You can already imagine the confusion it might cause.

This is my understanding... :)

The welcome letter should be on the way followed by the actual card. I got my welcome letter in a week after approval and the card a week after.

EMAIL says Plastic Card is in the Mail

All,
Thanks for the input again. I am amazed at the speed of USCIS at least in my case. The email below says the card is in the mail. I will keep you all posted.

Congratulations SimiDude!

Yours is one of the lucky cases with the process being so fast and even received the physical card so quickly, after approval.

So, now....Did you decide what kind of health / dental insurance to apply for your Mom? Please share any info you have on this. Thank you.
