Overseas jobs at American institutions

Dear All-
If you are GC holder for a year and you get a job offer at Ameican institute, what are the requirements needed to satisfy in order to keep your GC and apply for citizenship? I heard that people can apply for N-470 permit. Any comments on this issue? ialos, if you pay Social security while working overseas does that help you claim your time outside the country and used as proof that you are not abonding residency?
Thanks

Generally speaking you may be fine to have your contnuity for CTZ.
But insure the following again.
*Check N-470 application, for eligible american institutions.
*If your employer falls under one--
a)You should have stayed in US continuously for not less than one year(with out any break) to apply for N 470.
b)then apply REP before you leave US.(Better reside till you get reciept noticefor REP,if possible).
After that,
c)Min. requirement(must) is --you need file resident tax returns each year.
d)and any other ties to US what ever possible for you to maintain as per CIS guide/info'-like bank accts, residence, family ties etc.(they are not very critical here, as the case is of N 470 type&REP)but better to maintain as many and it helps.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a legal advise.lay man's opinion.

Thanks all who replied. As for the N-470, if you been out for two weeks does that disqualify the applicant, which means you have to wait another year to apply? Also, on the N-470 they do not list the institutions approved by the Attorney general, eventhough i know for fact that the institute is American operated overseas. If i can not apply for N-470 this year and i take the offer for coming September-06 what steps should i take to preserve my GC. Or should I wait for another year, apply for N-470 and then see if i can keep the offer for next year?
Thanks again for all the inputs and i really appreciate your comments.
