out of country for 4 months, will my H1B status expire?

I am not sure if this is true, but I read that H11B satus expires if no paychecks are written within 60 days.

I am currently on a longer not paid vacation out of the US, will my H1B status expire? My visa will normally expire in 2008, but I left US in August and stopped working at that time.

Thanks.

H1 won't be expired just by being out of the US for long time. It gets void when petition expires/cancelled, or H1 employment is terminated.

Thanks!
I read posts from people over worried about one month gap while changing jobs, etc., even on valid H1B status. My gap now is some 4 months, besides I am not in the US.

I received last check in August, and I won't receive one until probably March 2007. I was considering working online part time just to have activity, if that matters.

Anyway, does anyone knows if there is an official link/website on this issue? Just to make sure I am fine.

Yes, I believe it is a reason to investigate further. As per my understanding H1 employees can't take time off without pay (though I am not sure how short/long term disability can be explained to USCIS).

Check the following site (I might have been wrong)..
http://www.h1base.com/page.asp?id=132

However, my company, during shutdowns, keeps reminding us that H1 employees cant take time off without pay.

I am not able to find any more information on this. I hope someone on this forum knows a bit more.

Thanks.
