OPT to H1B to transfer - Please help

Here is my situation:

I was on F1 since Aug'04 and just finished my MBA in May'06. I am on OPT (OPT ends May'07) since then; I started for working for a company who filed for H1B, which is approved effective from 1-Jan-07.

Company is not doing good and I might lose the job even before my H1B period starts. It would of great help, if anyone can answer few of my questions:

a) whether I can change my job before my H1 starts and if new employer would be able to transfer my H1B?
b) if I am laid off or company shuts down, even before my H1B start, can I continue to remain on OPT and find a new job?
c) if company shuts down today, I won't have pay cheque in Jan'07, would it possible be possible to transfer my H1 without latest pay cheque?

Something disconnect here. Your H1 started effective from 1 Jan 06, what are you doing from Jan to Nov 2006. Once your H1 is approved and effective your OPT (F1) status has gone and you can not go back to OPT
