My OPT expires in 2 weeks. I am still intervewing and hopefully will find someone to sponsor my H1. My spouse is on F1 and a full time student. I have the following questions.

1) Is it ok to apply for F2 during the 60 day grace period?
2) How long does it take to get F2 approved?
3) I plan to stay with my spouse in US during the transition. Is that ok?
4) What will happen if I file for F2 and then an employer wants to submit application for H1B?
5) Are there any other options?

yes, and asap
2) How long does it take to get F2 approved?
a couple of months, but you will be legal all the time the application is pending. If it is denied, you will be out of status, if it is approved - you are OK.

yes

you will apply for H1B

continue being in F-1 status by enrolling in a program.

F2 during the 60 day grace period and then H1b?

If I apply for F2 and since it takes a couple of months to process it, while its being processed if an employer files for a H1B what happens to the F2 process? Ultimately I need sometime for my H1B process due to which I plan to apply for F2
