Open a company on H1b

Hi ,
I am on H1b and I am planning to open my own company with some friends in partnership, but i read somewhre that i can only invest in the company without getting any salary and also do some voluntary work in it.So my question , what kind of work is a considered as voluntary. and how should my association with the company be explained.I mean what should be my post in the company
