OCI Application Questions (OCI Cell in NY)

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get the acknowledgment for the OCI Application? I mailed my application along with that of my spouse’s to the OCI Cell on Jan 18th; the money order was cashed on Feb 14th. I have not yet received any acknowledgment of the application. The OCI FAQ says it takes 1 month to process the Application unless there are issues. I check the Status Inquiry website every day. I have also sent several emails inquiring about the status of my OCI Application. I have not received any response. Is this normal? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? Please help
 
I think acknowledgment comes towards the end, and soon after the status will keep changing. So, there's a big gap right after you apply, then a lot of things happen.
 
There was a document that I came across in the New York consulate's website which said that it takes about two months for them to acknowledge the application and not to call/email before then. Sure enough, my application changed to acknowledged about two months after sending the application. Please keep checking the tracking website. My case moved pretty fast after it was acknowledged. If I remember right, it showed my pic was scanned and accepted (I have heard cases about a lot of rejection of pics at this stage) and then registration printed and mailed from India. It arrived about 5 days to NY after being sent from India. I sent the passport immediately and got the stamped passport and OCI card about 5 days after I had sent the passport.

I sent numerous emails before it was acknowledged and I didn't get a single response from any of them.
