OC - 2025 - Selectees Thread

I’m OC24xx is it worth filing ds260? I know there’s been mention of predictibility of being around OC2000 meeting the cap roughly.. but I wanted to check if the quota has changed given the recent bulletin results?

Thank you :)

Hi all :)
I am 2025OC185X. I am starting to get very nervous with how slow Oceania (and Sydney consulate seems to be progressing).
The last visa bulletin only increased by 100 & only 2 more to go.
Does anyone have any insights on if they think cases under 1860 will become current / become scheduled?

Hi all, just a wee PSA in case any of you may be in NZ and therefore going to CityMed for your medical - the DV medical (in NZ at least) still uses paper filing, NOT electronic filing.

If they try to use electronic filing, the cover sheet you get will have 'EXCLUDES DIVERSITY' on it - don't be like me, and politely point it out, then let it go when they dismiss the concern, ultimately thinking they know best (they do not - and they ultimately won't have to suffer the potentially irreversible consequences if time runs out!).

MAKE SURE they use the paper forms with your passport photos attached just as the 2NL says to do.

I am very lucky my passport is already at the consulate and I've had my interview, and am just waiting for this last piece of the puzzle to be done (correctly this time) - if this was September, I'd be in a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad situation. I hope nothing else manages to trip things up!

Best of luck to all of you - and I really hope things pick up for you guys still waiting for your numbers to go current! (or perhaps at least that you were also selected for the DV2026 cohort... but with much lower case numbers!).

Wait and see is the only sensible answer. No one can be certain of the final number. If you become current, Sydney should be fine.

Best of luck.

Oh dear - while nothing else has tripped up my application since the medical was sorted out, I'm concerned about the potential of running out of time. A day after the medical was correctly submitted, my visa status went to 'ready' - that was last friday, and then to 'administrative processing,' either Monday or Tuesday, which from everything I'm reading, is like a black hole for actual visa issuance. The consulate has my passport... but now I'm very worried about how long it may take for the AP to resolve... or why it's sitting in AP at all, come to that....?

I would love to be told I'm worrying about nothing, and to chill out... but only if that's the truth! :)

Unless they actually told you there’s an issue with the application (”real” AP), this is just the status it defaults to during the few days they do final checks and actually print the visa. The embassy/consulate would have been closed on Monday for Memorial Day, so one less business day than you may be factoring in.

You mentioned "Ready" so I assume you see "Administrative Processing" in CEAC. That's as good as issued. Administrative Processing that's a black hole shows up as "Refused" with a long description text.

@Xarthisius, @SusieQQQ - thank you both... I was able to sleep last night thanks to your replies! After having my B2 visa revoked in November 2023 and only finding out when I was refused boarding at the airport, then being given a refusal form for a missing doc at the interview (although was told that when received the document, I would be approved), then the medical being ganked up by the medical centre... despite never actually doing anything wrong (my B2 was stamped with cancelled without prejudice at the interview, which was nice of them), I was so worried... it's been one helluva rollercoaster ride.
Anyway - earlier today, the status changed to 'Issued,' and I'm so bloody relieved. Thank you again, both of you (and @Britsimon, too - wouldn't have known the ins and outs of this process, nor that this forum existed, if it weren't for him!), I'm very grateful.

Hi everyone :)

I just have a question for the New Zealand selectees around gaining the police vetting docs. In NZ the police will not email it to you directly. So, my question is, do we just contact the police to send this to the embassy and hope that they get it? I’m a bit worried about doing this and finding out at the interview that they don’t have it or didn’t receive the email from the police somehow. Any recommendations on how to ensure they get it from people who have gone through this process already would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!

Hello! For me, that was one of the only things that DID go smoothly :D Emailed the vetting form I filled out, and within a couple of weeks (probably less, but I can't recall exactly), they emailed me to let me know they had passed it onto the consulate. I HAD considered also getting one from the ministry of justice (which we can do for ourselves) and taking that just in case, but didn't get around to it, and it was all received and fine by the consulate anyway. All the best!

Well that was a surprising result for the last visa bulletin. Cut off at 1775. See ya all in October I guess
