OC - 2025 - Selectees Thread

Interviewed today in Sydney!

Super efficient process, appointment was 8am, finished up at 9am.

Questions we (husband and I) were asked:
- have you been to the USA?
Yes
- have you ever overstayed a US visa?
No
- I’ll keep your passports here and when your medical results arrive we’ll send them back to you and you can go live in the US, how does that sound?
Great!

We saw/heard another couple get grilled on what they do for work etc but they were eventually let through too. I think the interviewer was just having a bit of fun with them because they were giving elaborate answers. People were literally giggling listening to their conversation.

Saw most others (3 or 4 people) have the same experience as us, in and out very quickly and at most were asked when they graduated or what they did for work.

Saw one guy rejected unfortunately because he was not born in Australia and therefore his chargability was wrong and he was never eligible for Oceania anyway! Poor bugger, the person who checked his documents basically said he was ineligible but for some reason he didn’t get the hint to not go pay the fee and progress to the interview. Saw him part with his cash only to go to the interview window and be told he’d been rejected.

We celebrated our success with mimosas afterwards. Good luck everyone!

Congrats! What range was your case number (ish)? Thanks
Thank you!

Number in the 400s.
Submitted ds-260 the day after 1NL in May.
Unlocked in June or July in anticipation of marriage.
Locked again late August, day after wedding and additional ds-260 completed.
Got 2NL (well, embassy email) the day after for October interview.

Hi Brit!
We've got a rank number of OC15XX.
After that big jump from 550 in December to 1100 in January, do you predict it hitting 1600s by February-March?

Just an update to this. If Trump blocks significant numbers in other regions that would allow OC to go a bit further
Thanks for that update.

My question is specifically about the significant increase we saw in January's DV Visa Bulletin numbers.

Do you expect similar jumps in the upcoming months, or was this a one-time occurrence?

I entrer Dv2025 with no kids. Now I'm seleted and i file my Ds260 with kids. I mention the will not travel with me.I have interview coming up in January..how that will that affect my case?

Brother it's bad news... you will definitely be denied. I suggest you dont even go for the interview.

Hi @Mama and @Britsimon, I wanted to ask one question. Is 25OC1913 any chance to be called? if so, what possible month would it be? Do i need to submit my ds260 now or wait?

Thank you very much!

Sorry, can’t help. I don’t analyze CN range or predict the likelihood of CNs becoming current.

While I don’t predict either, if you plan to submit your DS at all for consideration you shouldn’t really wait any longer. Approx 2 months for processing and another 2 for interview scheduling pretty much takes you almost to the end of the FY. In addition, don’t forget KCC will be flooded with DS260s once the next results are announced in May and they process first come first served,

That number has some chance and some risk. BUT if you don't submit your DS260 early enough then you would have zero chance. So you are going to have to submit your DS260 before you know whether you will get current or not. Seeing that is the case, you may as well submit now.

Hello all - I'm OC152X and have my interview in exactly 2 weeks. My medical was last week (a delightfully anticlimactic experience), so fingers crossed for an equally anticlimactic interview with a very happy outcome!

I'd like to share my experience in case it changes anyone's timing... I held out on my DS-260 as I wasn't sure when would be best for me to move to the US, and had some rather silly idea that if I sent it in a little bit later, it would take a couple of months to process before I got my 2NL... but, WRONG! (although now, I'm so glad I didn't wait longer!)

I sent in my DS-260 Feb 27th after following the VB numbers and going through Britsimon's info with a fine-toothed comb (Thanks so much, Simon!). However, based on the timing, and the wording in my 2NL, it appears that as soon as my case number was current, the interview was scheduled. My case number went current for May, in March, and in less than a week I had my 2NL. The letter also said 'you should have submitted your DS-260 by now,' which did make it sound a bit like the DS-260 and the interview were managed separately. I don't know, of course, just sharing my experience, but I was very surprised to have my interview scheduled so soon after submitting my DS-260.

Unrelated - I'm absolutely bricking it re: interview, because I always feel like I've done something horribly wrong when I talk to either consular officers (through various US visas over the years - J1, B2, H1B...) or customs officers at the port of entry!

They would not have scheduled without a completed DS260 (I'm 100% sure), so it just means they processed it super fast (less than 2 weeks). That is quick!
