I will get my USCS by next year april. We have decided to go back to india and enjoy life with relatives and friends for some years. If we like it we settle in india.

For me, citizenship is a free pass into USA. So if we don't like outside we can come back any time.

That brings up an another interesting question: does everyone who obtain US citizenship and move back to their country file US income tax every year?

Before this whole topic get out of hand and generate more heated discussion again, I would like to offer my 2 cents, and hopefully that we can all move on.

Whatever an individual chose to do with their lives are subject of individual's preferences. I think that is the major part why we all choose to obtain the US citizenship in the first place, even for greater costs for many of us, for the freedom and liberty for life. We all came from different background, culture, and social systems, I am certain that we all benefit from the freedom and verity of opportunities in life that have been offered in this society. To me, being a US citizen now, not only provide me all of those benefits that we have been enjoyed since we immigrated here, but also allow me to participate fully as a member of this great society. It is also my underline of duty, to help ones like myself and desire to make living in this country and become a citizen someday. This is one of reason why I choose to become the moderator for the forum.

With that said, it is undeniable that each of us will ALWAY in some way of form/shape to attached the deep culture from where we grew up. Just becasue we became the US citizen, we shall not forget about our roots and history. I wnat to be able to tell my grand children the culture and tradition in the future, and share the story for those memorable time that I had lived through before came to US. I will continue share my experiences with friends and relatives who still living in their native counties, and promoting american spirits. In fact, one unique feature of this society is the combination of multi-culture and social experiences, that made our lives better as we continue promoting such tradition and freedom.

For whatever it is worth, let's continue make this forum a place that will continue provide the support, courage to those who are planning and/or in processing to this milestone in lifetime, and continue share the experiences for those who has pasted this milestone and continue improve in life.

Most don't, I would guess, simply because they don't know/care. The informed ones probably do file US tax returns.

It's been only 61 years since India is independent? It's only one generation span. What was India like before independence?
