Trying to obtain info on Medicare premium cost. I am 69 years old born in Canada to American father......mother Canadian.I am eligible for Americam citizenshjp.Planning to retire in the U.S. I have never worked in the states.....am I eligible for SS? How much will Medicare premiums cost me?(Part A)

No.

You're probably far better off spending 7mo a year in Canada to preserve your Canadian health benefits.

But there is SS treatty between USA and Canada. One can pay SS taxes in one country and receive benefits in the
other. Which way means more and better benefits is another question

The treaty means that quarters in one country are treated as contribution quarters in the other, but at a level of "0". So if I contributed to FICA for 36 out of the minimum 40 quarters, I could claim 4 from Canada to get me over the eligibility threshold. His Canadian contributions will probably get him SS at the absolute minimum, at the cost of not claiming CPP and OAS in Canada. They won't get him Medicare.

I can't think of any possible way that moving from Canada to the US makes sense at an advanced age, unless one is independently wealthy.

Do you have a US passport or certificate of citizenship? If you didn't already prove your citizenship to the US government long ago, it's going to very difficult to prove it now, given that you have to prove facts about your father from before your birth 69 years ago. It's even more complicated if he wasn't married to your mother.
