Guys,

My dad is scheduled for his oath on May 5th but he did not recieve his oath letter yet. The problem is that I even cant schedule an infopass appointment because there are no dates available before May 5th. What should he do? Should he just show up on his oath day without a letter?

You can call and ask the drones what to do maybe they will escalate. But I had to walk into my FP appt with no notice. But I am sure that they can look it up. The only issue that I can see is getting through the door:confused:

I just called USCIS and they told me to wait for the letter and if I do not get one, just go to the court on the scheduled date. The person who check-in people usually have a list of names of people who are scheduled so your name should be in there. Honestly, I dont believe USCIS answers but I dont have a choice at this time. Seriousuly their first level of customer service should switch to walmart customer service or something. They are simply good for nothing, I told the lady that the oath is scheduled for May 5th and she is still readin the standard written script they have which pissed me off to an extent where I was about to use some slang on her but I controlled myself. She goes like you have to wait for 30 days for your oath letter to arrive in mail n I was like I think you did not hear what I said, my oath is scheduled for May 5th, what am I going to do with that letter if I get it after May 5th, shove it up yours?? Bastards!

Have you tried calling your local District Office? You might be able to get a better response using this approach since your case has already been approved and an oath letter issued. You can find the number using yellow pages or someone on here has a list - I think it is Laddybug.

On a personal note, I have called my District Office a few times and it has significantly moved my case forward. It really doesn't hurt. Make sure you explain that an InfoPass was your first choice, but there was no slot open and the 5/5 date is fast approaching.

LOL LOL LOL.

You should take infopass from http://infopass.uscis.gov/ and go to local office. That's when my wife received oath letter and I did not. I came out in 15 minutes with oath letter in hand with oath date same as my wife's date.

JC 8018 Thats the problem the infopass would be after the oath date.

r00724, (312) 385-1500, (not too sure if this is correct) the number was busy when I called.. If you aren't busy I would suggest you go to the DO and plead your case to the guard, so they would let you in. I mean it won't hurt anything... Unless you get really disgusted with the whole process and get arrested over there....

Same here, # is busy. Problem is that its for my dad means we both have to take the day off and go to the DO. Thanks for the # though

Can someone please provide me the local district office # for Chicago?

Hi there -

Try this number:

US Citizenship & Immigration
536 S Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60605

(312) 239-5900

I dialed the number and it goes right through. If you know your IO's name found on the letter given to you after your interview, then just use the last name directory to be transfered to their phone number. Or you can wait till the recording finishes and choose option 2 for the citizenship office. This might be better as you can speak to someone right away.

Good luck and let us know.

Thanks Lolali, this is amazing! I talked to the immigration officer who took my dad's interview. Finally got some satisfactory answer, if the oath letter is misplaced not a problem. Just show up in the court and they should be able to check you in. Thanks for all the help guys!

r00724, I am glad to know that it is resolved. Do you know where the court that the oath takes place at is? Did you ask IO for the address of the court that oath takes place at?

Yeah, she told me. Its 219 S Dearborn Street. Room 2525 Chicago IL. Basically two blocks from the USCIS DO.

Glad I could help. Good luck with your oaths. I think you have one approaching as well right?

Naa dude, I had my interview on April 17th, recomended for approval but nothing so far. My bro got his interview with me on the same day and he got his oath scheduled for May 6th. Not sure, where my case got stuck

You might want to keep the number handy then. So you can follow-up with them in another week or so regarding your case.

Did you ask the IO why he/she couldn't make a decision then? Perhaps the IO was a junior officer. At least you didn't get the "decision cannot be made at this time" response.

It really doesn't hurt to call after 3-4 weeks and ask someone to look into your case. You can frame it as you were told to wait for the oath letter and was wondering if its been mailed.

Good luck.

That's exactly what I am doing. I called my IO on the same # you gave as well. She was busy taking another interview so I could'nt speak to her in detail. She just said it takes from 4 to 6 weeks. I will follow-up in a day or two again to see if anything changed. I wish if I can get my oath scheduled for May 6th as well

Well, you may have to be patient on this matter due to maybe a huge back-log...even though you have an oath letter, the chance that you still may get a re-schedule as it already happened to me...

If you don't have any criminal records and you are good resident then nothing to be worry of.

Good luck!
