Hello - I was wondering if it is possible to request an oath date. From the timelines for my city, it looks like my oath date will be approximately around the time my vacation will fall on. I do not want to postpone the oath date or my vacation ;) and I want to use my American passport for my travels. Is it possible to request an oath date on the day of the interview or shortly after it?

TIA.

Sure, you can request an oath date, but it's entirely up to the IO's discretion whether or not to accommodate your request. Bring your vacation itinerary with you to the interview, and you may just get what you want. Keep in mind that there is no formal method to request a specific oath date.

how about involving my senator or house of reps?

You are joking right? :)

Pls. understand your "vacation" is not a high priority for USCIS and senators, and people will mostly laugh at you if you request help from senator or house of reps for these sorta things. Vacation may be important for you...but look at the big picture...

Request your IO - they may or may not accomodate your request. Thats the best you can do.

Have you heard of the phrase, "Have the cake and eat it too"? " I do not want to postpone the oath date or my vacation "

Try with IO, and Good luck

sure, you can ask, but it is up to IO- no gurantee Please try to postpone your vacation. Completing your journey to citizenship is very important. It is up to you. Good luck!

I have a job assignment in Germany and I told my agency those events would come up and hell would I do to postpone them in any way. If vacation has the same priority as your immigration, than something isn't right.

totally understand where you're coming from but man hope you got some travel insurance for your vacation. i would not try postpone anything with the USCIS. you can always ask the IO to get you a same day oath. i plan on doing just that although i am prepared to get a 'how about NOT" :)
if we have learned anything going through this process, the main thing is never postpone anything with the immigration.

Lets not generalize. For some folks, citizenship is not an urgent requirement. They "just want to get it" - no particular urgency, and can wait longer. If it takes another 6-12mos, sure, or longer, sure. Maybe it does not bother them.

So, priorities vary, and we need to be cognizant of it. To each his/her own.
