You Can take photos and film the entire oath ceremony. You still can't take cell phones in ,but people were clearly using cell phones to take photos. We were allowed to stand all the way at the front on the side as long as we were quiet and didnt disturb. The ceremony was great and the Judge stayed after to take photos up front at the flags. So many people didn't bring their cameras because of past rules, but they had a little sign saying the oath ceremony was an exception. If you have your oath at the Durham USCIS you Can film or photograph.

Was the oath administered by a judge ? Our oath on Wednesday was administered by USCIS director. Congratulation....

We had a real judge, bow tie and all,.It made it a very special day.We had 89 new citizens and they said 88 had put in for name changes.Thats why the guard said they called it Eastern District Court because the judge was present. He came out in his robe and we had to stand like it was really a court house.People were very friendly to each other and were taking photos and promising to email them to people without cameras.A guy who I still don't know his name loaned me 4 of his rechargable batteries for my camera so I could film the entire process.

I understand. They organized it such that they gather the people who are changing their name for a judicial oath.

By the way, was it the Senior Judge Earl Britt ?

It was Judge Britt. He did a great ceremony.I think they wanted everyone to feel like they had their moneys worth.I had not thought of the name change thing. Thanks for the info.
