NSC processing report

Has anybody else received their adjustment approval yet?

The latest NSC processing report indicates a huge jump--to Feb, 99.

Sessanga,
You say that you are waiting for the "approval". Did you already recieve the notice for fingerprinting? I also applied for I-485 in Dec 98 and so far have not recieved any notice/letter from the INS. When I called INS last week, the lady asked me if I recieved the fingerprinting notice. I told her that I had not. She looked at my file and said that the status still was "no decision made". But she told me that I should be hearing from them soon. I am not sure how soon is 'soon'.

Thanks,
Jameel

Yes i did receive an FP notice and i did FP on Oct.03.If you have not recieved yours then something might be wrong, but i had to go through the congress Lady who may be is the reason why my file was tackled on.

Hi. Is there anyone else on this forum who filed for I-485 on or before Dec 98 and has not recieved a notice for FP yet. I don't know if I should start worrying because Sessanga applied at the same time as I did and recieved the FP notice 3 months ago. I have called the INS so many times and everytime they tell me that there is "no problem" and that I should be getting the notice for FP soon. I emailed my congresswoman yesterday asking for her help with this matter but am not sure if she will be willing to do anything.
I would appreciate any comments/suggestions/advice.

Thanks,
Jameel

You CANNOT just e-mail your members of Congress for casework.

Send them a real letter with specific information and your signature so that they can look into the matter for you.

Can someone share a template of the letter that they had sent to their congressman/congresswoman and it yielded results. Obviously they should take out their case specific details. I think such a template will assist others in this forum to approach their respective representatives. Any assistance will be appreciated.

You do not need a template for that. Just tell them your bio data, your immigration file numbers, the INS office involved, the nature of the problem (in two or three sentences) and in closing say that you authorize/ask them to contact the INS on your behalf. Remember to sign it (otherwise the letter gets right back to you due to Privacy Act concerns).

All members of Congress have staff dedicated to solving problems of people in their districts with regard to federal agencies (federal agencies in turn have special phonelines/people to respond). It is one of the most basic jobs of lawmakers in a democracy. It does not matter that you cannot vote yet.

It does not matter how you write the letter as long as you convey all the necessary information and sign it.

PS: Some members of Congress have on their websites forms that you can fill out to request their assistance. No letter is needed if that applies.

Thanks guys for your suggestions on how to contact the members of Congress. BTW, the Congresswoman that I emailed had the "assistance form" on her website. I put in all my information there. I will fax her a signed copy of that letter too.

But, I still have not recieved an answer to my original question
" Is there anyone else on this forum who filed for I-485 on or before Dec 98 and has not recieved a notice for FP yet"

I would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks for your help,
Jameel

Hi Jameel,
to your question " Is there anyone else on this forum who filed for I-485 on or before Dec 98 and has not recieved a notice for FP yet"
I filed I-485 in September 1998,
I received my FP notice in March 2001, since then I have not heard from INS . I made a several calls to NSC and tolked to them.
They said my case will be worked this year (10/2002-10/2003).
Last time I called a week ago and asked about age-out case for my son. Oficer promised to call me back and a few days later he actually did. He answered all my questions.
Back to FP notice. They said I will get a new one, the first one I took in 2001 is expired.

Gilbert, this is amazing. You were the last person to get his fingerprint notice and yet was the first to receive your approvale letter. I am so excited that they moved up the date to 2/9/99...Everyday I check my mail box and say my prayers but no luck so far.....I think we will all be happy very soon

Jameel: you should have received your fingerprint notice
It may have something to do with your arabic name. If i were you, i would make a big fuss about it

What can I do? I have called the INS a number of times and everytime they tell me that I would hear from them "soon". I don't know how soon is "soon". I wrote to my Congress woman and she did not reply. Any suggestions on what else can be done?
BTW, I am not Arabic ...not that that should matter.

Well, finally I received my Fingerprint notice from NSC. I had sent them a letter about two weeks ago with the request to look into my case.
I had filed my application for I-485 in Dec-98. I was starting to panic because I had not heard anything from INS for a while now.

Can someone please tell me if the process (waiting period for PR) is same for Asylees and other categories (such as EB3, EB4) after you get done with the Fingerprints.
Good luck to everyone on this forum.

Regards,
Jameel

Jameel,
We are all waiting after the fingerprints. We should have our LPR any time soon after the freeze is over. Keep your finger crossed
