Hi,

I'm LPR long time. Last year I applied and got my re-entry permit, however I never left USA except for a couple weeks.

My re-entry permit is going to expire early next year 2011. Does this permit have any affect on my naturalization N-400 ?

If I go for a vacation to Australia this year (while my permit is valid) do I have to use it for re-entry to U.S. ? Or is green card sufficient?

By itself, no.

You should use your RP only if your stay out of USA exceeds 1 year, or if it exceeds 6 months and the CBP agents starts being suspicious.

Don't worry about the permit. It will have no effect, and you can leave it at home when you go to Australia and apply for naturalisation as if nothing is wrong (unless something else is wrong).

By itself, no.

My question in another words. Does practically unused re-entry permit have any drawbacks and disadvantages?

(besides money question)

There is no obligation to use the reentry permit if you have not traveled long enough to have to use it. Not using it is the same as never applying for it in the first place.
