Oaky here's the situation at hand! I have a friend whom is trying to get started on his (US CITIZENSHIP), and it has been so frustrating getting straight forward info. Everyone i have talked to says a different thing it seems. Am so confused here it isn't funny...:o This person doesn't have a Visa of any kind he wasn't informed he needed one. The amount of money needed to get started keeps going higher and higher. I have done so much research my brain feels like it's on fire..::eek:
My friend whom i am trying to help has two physical disabilities attained from birth. He has (Hydrocephalus and Cepral Palsy). I am mostly concerned about the Hydrocephalus as he could have what is called a shunt block at any time. This is why i am trying so hard to assist him in this matter. Medical assistance is very important for him to recieve the sooner the better. By the way he is 20yrs old.
Can anyone give me any feed back on how recieving Citizenship can be done without possible waiting, say the 5 yrs?...

There is no short cut for become a US Citizen. Not sure if you describe your friend's situation fully, from what I am reading, he is not even in the States yet (correct me if I was wrong). Your friend will need be in the States, and became a Permenent Resident (Green Card Holder) first, then, depends on how he has obtained Green Card, it will be either wait for 3 years (if he was married to US Citiezen), or 5 years (otherwise) before he is even eligible to apply for citizenship of United States.

More info is needed: Where is he located? What is his immig status? (he should have one)
Also Bobsmyth's question is a good one. What are his intentions?

Does this person have a parent who is a US citizen or permanent resident? Is he in the US? Was he born in the US?

If his parents are permanent residents, he probably would have obtained a green card as a child. If either of his parents are US citizens, he might have already derived US citizenship from them.

is the person a permenant resident of the USA? theres no short cut to becoming a usa citizen..and 2nd is that even with a greencard the person can get health insurance even illegals get it. i dont understand ur question..r u the freind ur talking about cuz u know we all r assuming your asking about urself.

You have to answer the few basic questions asked above before an accurate answer can be provided. Let me summarize

1. Where is your friend right now? If he is in the USA, how and when did he get here.
2. Does he have family (especially parents) that are residents in the US. WHat is the reationship to the family and when was residency granted to these family members.

Your friend may already be a citizen, may already qualify to be a citizen or may be a green cardholder. Your friend may be unable to become a citizen. It all depends on the answers to the above questions.
If you do not provide more information, then I am afraid we are simply unable to answer your question.

How did he able to get here without a visa?
Seems like he came here as a child, and due to his disability has never taken care of himself out in the world and does not understand the basis for his own immigration status.

Either that, or this is another case of a joker who has no other posts ever on the forum, makes one and only one post with some sketchy incomplete information about some fictitious unusual scenario, and never returns to clarify anything. The longer this thread lasts without the OP responding, the more I am inclined to believe that this is the case.
