No escalating calls to 2nd level IO - something recent?

In this week, I twice called to find out what is going on with my application. My wife already received her interview letter several days ago. Since I had to do my FP second time - I haven't.

Each time this week - when I asked to escalate the call to second level IO - they have declined to do so - parroting the same text visible on the useless online status display. Is this something new or is it that I just had bad timing this week. Earlier - no one has shown so much resistance to escalate the call or declined it.

Just tell the CSR that it's been over 60 days and you still haven't received your receipt. Don't tell them anything else. You'll then be transferred to the 2nd level.

Someone suggest you make up a little lie to get to 2nd level.
(First make sure telling a such a lie will not be a crime or offense)

It's as much of a crime as not disclosing on your application you were pulled aside for a secondary inspection at a POE: it has no legal consequence.

OK - so I call back and tell them I don't have my receipt number and they transfer me. I give my A# and the second level IO pulls up the case. I don't know if he was actually looking at all the info or just trying to reduce his work. He said they haven't received my fingerprints back from FBI (I had called FBI and they told they sent my prints the same day - second fingerprinting) and that FBI doesn't give any info out - it was at this point I am starting to think that this guy was not interested in looking up the info and give it to me.

Oh well....I guess I just have to wait and watch and hope that it doesn't take longer than other folks in my DO with similar timelines.....

you should not ask that you speak to 2nd level with out explaining issue. it hurts everybodys feelings.. I go thru this everyday as part of my job

1st level folks paid to reduce load on 2nd level.. so you need to have proper reason

Just as someone who told her friends she was a citizen, somneone
could later told on N400 he has lied to get immigration benefits
(lied to get the benefits of talking to the 2nd level IO on USCOIS
service line).

1st level CSRs have no information, other than the same online status that can be viewed on USCIS.gov. Not only that, but they are not allowed to deviate from their script. In fact, they provide no useful information at all. As far as having a proper reason for requesting a transfer to a 2nd level CSR is concerned, I think that wanting to get actual information, not "On May 5, 2009, we've received your application" and "just be patient and wait", is as valid a reason as any.

Apples and oranges.

Agree. We know that much already from online. We want more info.

USCIS should have given access for IO level 1 to begin with, so they can give us useful info other than what was listed online (that was never updated to begin with).

So my point is, it's not our fault that we have to lie to IO level 1 to get thru to IO level 2. USCIS should have done a better job with their system.

Immigration benefit in that sense does not mean getting service by USCIS over the phone.

Today I was declined by 1st CS too. I have called 3 times before and was ok to be transfered to 2nd level IO? I don't know if afternoon is a bad timing or just I should not disclose too much detail about my problem? Anyone have experience about the timing?
Also, will they keep a record about how many times you called or will the infopass keep records of that? I only want to know if the oath date being scheduled.

Some reps will refuse to transfer you if you ask. Instead, try giving them a bogus receipt number (change yours and verify on uscis website) or telling them you applied more than 30 days ago and never received a receipt number will trigger them to transfer your call.
