Thank you everyone for your help. My husband got his passport stamped. Now I am waiting for my files be transferred back to Newark and an interview notice. I haven't talked to him yet, so no details at this time. But I am just too happy. Wish all of you good luck also!!!!

congratulations !!

I think your interview date was July 21 as per the tracker. Did you prepone your interview?

I-131 from Local Office

My I-131 case has been transferred to local office today. Is there a way to find out the processing dates of local office for 131 cases?

How long it should take to see the approval? My current AP expired before 1 month and I would like to travel in September.

Thanks

Eb3

I'm under category EB3, and the worst part is that my EAD will be expired on the 20th of Sep. My interview is on 8/17. I'm still debating whether I should continue to apply EAD...Any suggestions? :(

correction

First, thank you for all the congratulations. I most undertand all of your anxienty. I am still very anxious to get my green card stamped also. Only my husband got it.

I am not an expert on anything, but I got some first hand info from my husband today. The officer told him that other employment based categories have run out of the quotas, but not for EB1. Therefore, I guess BlueGirl you might want to renew your EAD, even though you have an interview in line. (also I think hello99 is the first example.)

the tracker didn't record my date correct. I have been trying to correct it, but not able to. The interview date IS today.

Another very very important advise for desiladka, because that is the lesson I learned through the hard way. Don't call that 1-800 number to inquery your status. I can't get my green card today because I called that number after my files are tranferred to Newark. My files got transferred back to vermont, which mean I got a step back. WHAT A PITTY! Officer told my husband if my files were there, I would have got it. Also, they requested my files from vermont yesterday, I will let you guys know when I get the interview date.

by the way, what is I131. I might need AP, if i run out of patience again. Should I apply with chicago office? or what kind of document I can show to newark to make it an urgent situation and get AP the same day?

Thanks, good luck every one.

What questions were you asked by the immigration officer? Could you please share your experience.

I dont think that you need to worry about anything now, its just a matter of time you need to wait until October to get your visa numbers.

Did the officer take your EAD now or he has asked you to keep it with yourself until you get the physical stamp in your passport.

NO HE DID NOT TAKE EAD. (I dont have AP becuase never applied for it)

gyang, how r u sure that your file was transferred back to vermont just becasue of you called the 1-800 is that what your officer told you, because i know that is the only # to call to makeenquiry, i made the same thing and the message changed to " we responded to you reques" the letter which i never got it, but after that i had my 4th ead renewed, so i know my file should be int he place where it suppose to be that is why they renewed my ead, as i know if there is something wrong with i485 they would not renew the ead, and once that got approved, even my lawyer said that it means they have all the info that they need, so guess have to wait patiently, by they way when was your file transferred to local office and when transsferred back

Thank you!

Thank you! qyang0828 for sharing your experience with us. Hope you receive interview letter soon!

several issues. help on source of quotas, plz

Thanks bluegirl! I have all of my fingers and toes tightly crossed.

I heard about EB2/3 quota first from this forum, but how do you guys get to know about that? Can you share your source with me, is there some link that I can check how many quotas left. Because I am so worried that by the time my files are transferred back to Newark, the quota of EB1 will run out also. So if I could knew that ahead, I might be able to do some prepond things. Any help is appreciated.

smile280, I am sure because the officer told my husband that. Also I got the letter that indicates my files was transferred to Newark last Sept. but on the record in newark, it says that my files was transferred back to vermont in June. I called 1-800 at the end of May. I got my ead in newark at the spot last month. So it doesn't matter if they have my 485 files in newark office, they issued me an ead card. So from my experience, renewal of ead only required their record shows that you are 485 pending.

Again, I am not expert on any of them, just share my experience here, because I benifite a lot from this forum. Emotionallly, I felt much better when I knew there are so many people are in the same situation. Also how I wish someone told me it was not wise to call 1-800 to inquery before I called.

Romano would be the next one to be interviewed. Good luck, Romano.

dear gyayang,
it could be possibel in your case for some reason, but i am sure that is not the case for every time you call, since i had never called about it, nither did i know about it, it was my lawyer who called after 7 months of waiting, and the only time i came to know is when the message change on the internet, to " we resoonded to your request" and when i question him he said it is routine to do that, and also my ead was file in chicago, and after the message changed to we responded, my ead was approved 4 weks after that, now in this forum i am sure you must have seen a lot of cases, when something wrong with i485, they do not approved the ead, but then again i am not hte expert on it, but just my experience from the forum as i have been on it over 3 years, my 485 is over 44 months old

EAD - Where to apply ?

File is transfered & pending at Newark service center. 2 questions:

(1) Should the EAD be filed at Newark center or Vermont (i fall under here) or chicago drop box ? Would appreciate 1 answer !

(2) My address is about to change - What forms should i fill ? Again, is it at vermont or newark ? How can i assure myself that Newark center has my latest address when it is my time to be called for interview ?? Not sure why Newark center does not have a customer service number without infopass ??

Thanks much !

Hi ALL,

Newark local office did not stamp the passport after interview for me and my wife ( IDate. 07/07/05). As per officer ALL GOOD but they can not do the stamp as number of visa reached its limit for FY-2005 for 3rd and 3rd other workers and it will be available begining of OCTOMBER 2005. They will send approval notice at home once it is available and then we can take appoment for stamping.

Question?

1) ANY ONE HAS SAME ISSUE?

2) Our interview is done. Do we have to worry @ anything?

3) What is the % of approval of Adj of Status at this point? or Just wait till OCTOMER 2005.

Thanks.

I hope your answeres to above question were answered by others in the forum. I really hope you get it in October. I am in the same situation, except that my interview is on 8/16/05. Since your interview was successsful according to the officer, but he couldn't stamp due to outage of numbers until October, did he give any other paperwork or confirmation number confirming that its just a matter of time before you will receive approval notice?

Desiladka

Hello, It is good that your I-131 has been transferred to local office. You can go there with an InfoPass appointment and enquire about the status. Since your Alien file is with them. They may even approve it right away. You can either do it now or a few weeks before you travel. What happened to your EAD interview on 7/7/05?

Answer: Chicago Lock Box Office.

Answer: You have no control on address change. For your information INS has humpty number of databases which has to be updated. But when you make an address change, they update only 1 database and because of this, you dont get the FP notice on time and your correct address. Change of address is done in London, KY and need to call VSC to confirm that. In Newark they dont have an official phone number for you to call and confirm/clarify. So better take an infopass appointment and get it fixed in person. Good Luck!
Thanks much !

Address change at Newark

InUS&Frustrated,
In order to have your address change done at Newark write letter with the following details.

1. Name, I-485 Receipt No, A#, Date of transfer to Newark, Old Address and New Address.

The address you need to send it to is..

CIS
Peter Rodino Federal Building
970 Broad Street
Newark NJ 07102

I was skeptical when i had to send a letter for my address change. Thankfully i got my interview letter at my new address..

You could do the same..

EAD Interview

Hi Everybody,

I have been visiting this forum regularly since our cases were transferred to Newark in May, 2005. I found the forum really resourceful and it is also encouraging to see so many other people in the same situation and that so many people are willing to share their information.

Our 485 applications were transferred to Newark in mid-May this year. My husband is the primary applicant. I filed my EAD (first one) application in April and they transferred it to Newark in June. I received an interview letter last week for my EAD application.

If anyone could shed some light on how interviews for EAD usually proceed at Newark and what documents I need to bring with me, that would be greatly appreciated!!

InUS&Frustrated,

Let me share my experience with respect to this:

1. Applied for 4th EAD with Vermont (where I-485 file was filed)
2. VSC transferred to Newark after about 3 weeks (because I-485 was with Newark).
3. Newark called for interview after another 3 weeks and approved EAD
4. Lost EAD the next day after getting from Newark
5. This time applied to Newark directly - they returned the envelope promptly and said I need to apply to Chicago Lock Box
6. Sent it to Chicago Lock Box.
7. Got a Notice of receipt after 3 1/2 weeks asking me to schedule an appointment for Bio-Metrics
8. Since our interview was on June 30 did not schedule any appointment
9. Officer asked for EAD card and we narrated the whole story. He said 'don't even worry about it and took all the previous EAD cards and asked if we had any AP and we said no.

I'd conclude that apply for EAD renewal to the center where the I-485 was filed and they'd do the needful.

Regards,
ataknev

USPS wont forward any mails from INS. Just take the infopass appointment and they will tell you if your interview is already scheduled. Also you can fill a form there to change your address. I did the same thing in last March. I got all my mails and letters from INS.

On the past trend out in Newark, it takes an average of atleast 6-8 months to schedule for the interview. Since your case is EB3, I dont think that they would schedule even if something miracle happens before October 2005, since we are already out of visa numbers for this fiscal year.

If you really lucky, you would get it(interivew) this year, or else atleast not until February/March 2006.

Good Luck!
