New Travel Documents

Yeah , we saw a CIS memorandum that was released prior to this Press Release.
Quite frankly I don't see how asylees and LPRs will benefit from this change if CIS doesn't reduce the processing time and increase the validity date of these documents. I think they implemented these changes just for the sole purpose of making it more difficult for the counterfiters.

INS shows new Travel Document on Internet:
Nothing special (they would better do it faster and valid for longer...), but you can look at links

Hi y'all,
Is it true that this new travel document is only for people that got approved? some friend told me this and was adamant about it. he told me that this new one doesn't show anywhere that the applicant is asylee, neither permanent resident.

thanks for y'all input.

I frankly do not understand your question.

This document is for permanet residents, asylees and refugees.

What is the confusion?

There was an earlier CIS memorandum that descirbes more details about these new travel documents than this Press Release does. It's in the old posts.

With the old travel docs I think RP is valid for 2yrs and RTD for one year. I don't know if they're gonna change that with the new docs.

Hi
Let me put this issue to rest.I got my travel document approved on 11/05/2003.Received it on 11/24/03.It is the NEW Green coloured document. On the first page it says ASYLEE and is valid till 11/04/04.If you need more information I can provide

Hi,

I have a question... For those of us who got PR through Asylum...are we going to be issued Refugee Travel Documents or Returning Resident Permits? I know they are the same thing/Travel Document, but I am trying to figure out the validity. I know that Returning Resident Permits are valid for 2 years and are issued to permenant residents... So I'm wondering if asylees who've adjusted are considered for RRPs.

I'd appreciate someone's insight on this.

Thanks,
LolaLi

I never used travel document nor reentry permit, so I may sound stupid. I am asking this for a friend.
the document my friend received last week is green document that says travel document, the whole process took 3 weeks. it doesn't say anywhere Asylee, refugee or PR contrary to what Rudo said?

any explanation to this.

What is the validity period?

Does the document say I-327 or I-571 on the inside page of the front cover?

Renewing RTD

Guys i have a question!
in the past i usually renew my RTD a month before it expires but since there is a 6 month waiting time on RTD and my RTD will expire in 3 months can i apply for my RTD now? Is there a time limit i can apply for a RTD before it expires?

Dear Andrew01

I think you can apply for any Immigration benifits 90 days (3 month) before the expiration date.

So you're an Asylee with pending I-485 application. The green Travel doc assigned to GC holders is valid for 2yrs.
