did u get ur cards in mail?i see that ur location is the same as mine (houston)...the website says that they mailed the cards on march 9th..i havent received them yet...pls let me know if u got urs..

Hi

Once you receive the Card, you cannot get the stamping in Passport anymore, the GC stamping in Passport is valid for only one year. After that your GC card is the proof of LPR status. So the best thing is to keep your card safer always.

The reason I was asking all this is b/c I have a 3 hour drive (one way) to the nearest local center, so it basically means taking a day off. So, if my EAD is valid for a few more months and I don't plan any foreign travel during that time, I might just wait for the card to arrive. Then again, after hearing your rationale for getting the PP stamp, I may go ahead and do it, if nothing else, for the very same reason you and your wife did it.

For My Wife - I just checked on online and it was mailed on 3/12/04

her 6 year journey is over ....mine still continues ......

My wife and I are also waiting for our plastic cards.
Stamping done in Tampa on Feb 10th.

More than a month has passed and still nothing. I 've seen that the general trend is that you get your card in about 2 - 3 weeks.

No change in the status on INS website too.

Weird, isn't it.
