I have to go with dima66a on this one. Atleast the first half of the theory. In case a case is under review it will show up as missing. Now review need not necessarily mean approval, but it definitely means it is on someone's table. Now depending upon how many cases are on that person's table will decide how soon your case status is updated.

My case went missing atleast 4-5 times, there was no change in LUD, but things kept happening. The first time I received my 2FP notice, the next few times it went missing there was no change in LUD, but the end result was an approval.

I usually don't like to extrapolate on the way INS works since it is always in a state of flux. But this time personal experience, and that of others allows for some deductions to be made.

On the conservative side, I would say, that if your case is missing, it is a good thing. Something 2FP/Approval/RFE will come out of it.

but why they only took the derivative case onto their desk ? and it has been sitting there for 11 days. anyway It IS better to be missing than nothing to me.

Did your case go missing for 6 weeks? My case (I-140 submitted in Jan. '04) has been missing, since end-June '04. Incidentally, I submitted my I-485, mid-June '04. Since then, I received my EAD, AP, and also am done with FP.

I enquired with my Attorney (a famous one in the NE), and heard some BS. I then asked my employer to speak to USCIS - who initiated an 'enquiry'. I do not know if it will 'affect' my case in any way, but I had to act - atleast because it is MY case...

my case also came back with old message 'we responded .....' it was missing seven days. apparently my theory about complete uselessness of the message was incorrect. CIS still thinks that 'we responded to your request..' really reflects the status of the case.

Case missing for 1 day

My online case status missed on 8/27/04. It came back one day later. I found Lots of the missing cases, listed in the thread ended up approved. But my case only missed for 1 day. Other cases had been missed much longer. Could that bcoz my case is a straight forward case? Or it maybe just a system glich?

Anybody had similar experience?
