Status: Still waiting for passport to get stamp...
The wait is getting really frustrating...
 
H1 revalidation

Hi,

Mailed on Nov 09, 2001.
Spoke with visa officer this morning.
She said it was approved on Jan 23, 2002 and waiting to be printed.
Also said it could take another 2-3 weeks.

This is the standard answer

To me also they said that your visa has been approved on Jan 24th, but due to backlog you will get it in March. But I got it back on Feb 12th.
 
Revalidation

Hi,
   I also called to check yesterday and the visa officer told me the same thing that my visa is approved on Jan 24th and it will take another two weeks to get my visa stamp printed. This is their general answer in case you try to push them for more information.
 
Visa issued

I also called DOS, mine rcvd at St. Louis on Nov. 22.(USPS)
The lady said visa was issued on Jan. 25, it would take
3-6 weeks to get it back.

Many people like me are in a situation where Visa is
approved but not yet printed.
So can you tell us, when your visa was approved and
printed?

I sent on 12/08 ..reached St Louis 12/10, sent to Washington DC 1/20,
approved 1/23 and stamped 2/13 arrived 2/15. Used fedex

My pp was received at st louis on Dec 11 2001 and I had requested for withdrawal by fax on Jan 21st 2002 but so far I have not received the PP.
tried calling to visa office 4-5 times at DC but getting busy tone after the recorded message say\'s transfering my call to an officer.

Pls let me know if there is any other method to contact them.

Whatever date you see under "Expires on" section, only that much the visa is valid. Usually officers allow until the date, your 797 was approved. It is upto an officer to decide until what date the visa should be valid(less than 797 date).

It happened to some people that they got approved for the dates less than the 797 indicates.

I am not sure(or heard of) the visa issuance is related to the country of the person.

To my knowledge, St Louis works exactly how the officers in the US consulates work.

You may want to talk to your immigration attorney.

Calling DC office VISA office

I tried calling a couple of times to check the status on my visa application but every time the lady I got told me that she could not check the status on my application and if it had reached DC or not. What are you supposed to ask them in order to check the status on the application. Please help I am very frustrated with the system.
