Hi,
How to find low cost accommodation in New York. for the first month
How to start with first step in US after getting the GC.

NY housing is expensive but depends on which area do you want to live at.
I suggest you look for some low-cost temp. housing first , get used to the area that you like, then sign and lease a fix one.

Yea - New York can be really expensive. But there are alot of job opportunities there so its also a + for integration into a foreign country.

@Raffanti:- do you have your own house with rooms that you are letting out or what? Where are you based in the US now, if I can ask?

Without a credit history it might be more difficult to find a place secially for a short period. Maybe a Hostel is something for just a month.

Carefull because with less proof of a good rental or financial history you might be an easier target for some one who wants to take advantage....or bad places...
 
I did not have any credit history (obviously) when I moved to the US and I was able to rent a very nice apartment and apply for the utilities. The rental apartment offices check that you pay your bills not that you have a high credit score.
 
i agree. i lived in the states, and never have i been asked for a credit history by me landlord.
be careful no to tell peoples lies.

Are there any websites that we can use to find such safe hostels where as new comers we can move to?thanks
