New I-94 / Travel to India on vacation on TN

I travelled to India in Dec'21 and flew from Chicago-Mexico City-India.

When I returned (MI land border) the CBP agent told me that you don't need a new I94 (informed him about my India travel) even though I did not surrender my I94 in Mexico City (airline officials not familiar with I94 drop off procedure at Mexico City airport)

I wanted to check if I can continue with my I94?
 
Yes. TN I-94 is always multiple entry, and if the CBP entered you with that I-94, then that is fine.
