New Canadian Passport

Well I am on edge now. Canadian passport application is likely to take 4-5 months to process. As of today they are processing March 14 receipt dates, and seems like even if they open a file for you, you can get your passport after 2-3 weeks form that time.
OK I have to renew my TN, now I'm stuck! I would like to take advantage of the current availability of the visa number for July, I have to cross my fingers so that it does retrogress any time soon.
Can I file I-140 with an expired passport but valid TN!
 
What does filing I-140 have to do with your passport? Nothing.
What does having a valid I-94 have to do with filing I-140? Nothing.

Go ahead and have your company file I-140.
 
Wow! The timeline for getting a passport that you mentioned is for the Canadian Consulate in the US? Which one?

BTW, don't we need to have a passport that is valid for more than one year when we file an I-129 (TN or H1)?
 
... and Cdn consulates in US don't do passports (unlike Cdn consulates in most other countries), you need to send applications directly to Gatineau.
 
you can do an expediate passport renewal in Canada for around 100 bucks or so (may be a bit higher or lower i forget). You just need to show them a proof of why you need it in a such a hurry.
 
you can only expadite a passport application in person at a passport office in canada, and you have to be present to apply for it and receive it.

I also lost my canadian passport and my visa expires in a week, i am going to canada this week and am applying for my TN with my birth certificate and photo ID.

another option is use the mail filing method
 
Not that it has anything to do with TN status, but I submitted my passport stuff in the mail in Jan and got my passport in May or so. So yeah that 4 months seems to be a good estimated time frame to get one...
 
I send mine to Gatineau at the beginning of May and I'm still waiting for it...on the Passport Canada website it's write that it will take 12 weeks to process (without mail delay) a demand from the US. I'm moving next month and I have no way to tell Passport Canada...:confused:

Have you gone to Canada to apply yet, and how long did it take, and what proof did you take. I am also going next week, so guide me on this
