Hello everyone, and thanks for reading my post.

I need some advice. I have finished my N 400 interview and am awaiting Oath Letter. Its been 2 months already after interview and I was approved.
However, at Infopass they told me Oath may be sometime in Sept but knowing these guys, I would not trust them one bit.

My dilemma is this: The person I intend to marry is here in the US on another visa. The visa expires end Sept. I have not proposed yet because I was waiting for the Oath to be over. I am worried that if the oath is so late then her visa may expire or we may not have enough time to get a marriage license, register our marriage, apply for her (AOS)on all the forms etc. I have already collected all the data required on my part. What should I do? Should I propose, and if she accepts, should I get married before the oath? What will be the repercussions? I am really stressed as she has already made many trips and I just HAVE to do it now or i may never get another chance.I don't want her to go back this time.

What do the gurus suggest? I was hoping for the Interview and oath to happen sooner but who says life is easy. I have already been waiting for more than 16 months now! Please advise.Am at wits end.

When you get married makes no difference. You will not be able to file an I-485 until you become a citizen, and even if your spouse is out of status at that point there is no penalty.

I certainly would not be at my wit's end over this. You need to worry less.

Thank you for your reply.

I am wondering that if we get married now,(if she agrees,i.e)
before the Oath, I would need to update the USCIS at the oath.
So, even if were married before the Oath, and soon after we file for her, with all the forms, what do I do about the Medical Exams as they may take time. I think the rest I may be able to squeeze in before her I 94 date expires.

Any repercussions at the Oath for me?
Any repercussions for her AOS if we do that. We have known each other for more than 2 years now and really love each other and I don't want to lose her.

Again, there is no consequence if her I-485 is filed after the expiration of the I-94. Concentrate on getting everything done right, than rushing to meat a non-existent deadline and making a technical error on your submission that would cause the I-485 to be rejected.

I do not know what the implications of marriage before your Oath are to your naturalization process.

You can marry her RIGHT NOW if you guys want...there is no any negative implication on your oath. I think you should get marry now so that you guys could arrange all the required documents which are needed when you would sponsor her. And she can now take her medical examinaton as well because it remains valid for a year. So don't worry. Just make sure to update INS about your marriage and take with you the marriage certificate on the day of Oath.

Forget about her status, visa or anything like that because nothing would matter when you will file for her to adjust her status being a US citizen...

However, I don't understand why you haven't proposed her yet if you really like (or love) her and wanted to marry her?? Is immigration matter more important to you than your love or marrying with someone you like? And if you are really going to marry her for real then why do you care about your immigration matter (like oath) if you really love her (even one sided love so far)? Go ahead and propose her soon than waiting forever....

Thank you JohnnyCash!
I think I have enough confidence now to do the needful.I do agree that love is more important and I only waited so that we would not have to wait forever after being married to be together.
Hopefully I will have success with the USCIS and my girl!
Thanks a million.
