Hi There,
My I-485 notice date is 16-Dec-04 and presently Vermont Service center is processing for 15-Feb-05. Also my priority date is 1-Jun-1999 and currently priority date is 1-Jan-01.
My lawyer already placed and enquiry since my notice date is beyond 30 days of current processing.
I am expecting my and my wife application will be up for processing pretty soon (hope it works well for us). I heard that I can register on USCIS web site so that if somebody start working on my file I will be sent email.
Can someone tell me URL where I need to get register to get such auto email when my file start processing?

Thanks in advance,
Vijay

Thanks Raju,
I think go to this web site and click on "Register" on left. I have already register there previously, need to get my password.
I was under impression there is separate registration need to get 485 processing info.

Thanks one more time,
Vijay

OK gurus!

Deos you GC process stops when you are outside US on a vacation?
What happens when your PD becomes current and you are outside US on a vaction?

Thanks,

Raju....will that link work for the Nebraska center, I filed for my step children in September....got my receipt numbers, but have not heard anything since...do you know how long it normally takes....thanks in advance

vijay_485,
Not to discourage you but just to clarify some of your assumptions and give a realistic picture:

When you register with the USCIS website, you can watch the LUD (last updated date) of you case. This is just an indication that your case is being worked upon. It is not that reliable, some people get approval without any LUD change. The email comes only when the status message changes and 'LUD change only' does not generate and email. Above all, there is no such thing as 'you will get email when someone starts working on your file'.

I hope USCIS will start working on your case soon, you/your lawyer have done the right thing by opening an inquiry. If you do not hear back from them in some 30 - 45 days, ask your lawyer to contact USCIS again and if possible ask AILA laison to help.

Best of luck!

Not a guru, but this is my opinion:

I assume by vacation you mean 1 to 3 months.
If you are out of US on a vacation, your 485 processing continues. If you are out of US and your PD becomes current then your 485 may get approved. In that case you will still be able to enter the US on your existing status like H1 or AP.

Thanks Eric for the reply. After going through your postings it gives a lot more confidence to face this battle. I felt we are not alone in this venture of course through this forum we get to know the problems faced by others. Yes I mean a vacation of less than 3 months. One more question cropped up...do you have any idea how long does finger print reports and biometrics is valid? I saw at few places that if it exceeds 15 months we will be asked for finger printing again now a days it is finger printing code 3...and if we are abroad when we get the finger print notice we will have only two months period to complete it....and need to rush back to do it.

Good to know that something that I did gives you more confidence.
Regarding the 15 months period for medicals, yes that is the official rule, but if your medical record was clean when you submitted your application, you should be fine. Even if it is more than 15 months by the time they are ready to approve your 485, USCIS will not ask for new medicals upto a reasonable time like 18 to 20 months. It depends case by case and officer to officer.

When you are away for vacation, if some friend or family member can watch your mail, then they can inform you if any mail from USCIS is received. That is going to be your best bet. It is very important to do the FP on time, otherwise USCIS may say you abondened your 485.

Oh my God!!! Eric....is this site accurate...here is the message they gave me when I put in the receipt numbers.....This case has been approved. On March 9, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 14 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address............Did my wife and I jump around the house in tears for nothing??? or is this the real thing?? These are her children and I have been trying to hard to get them together again....

Advance parole question?

My wife applied for here I-485 nearly 174 days after here K-1 fiance visa visa ran out on February 17,05 the I -485 was recieved August 9,2005 we had to wait for the medical examination because the Civil sugeon medical exam called for imunizations but she was pregnant at the time and we were advised not to have the shots, if we apply for advance parole do you think that they will impend the 3 year bar on her, the travel warning talks about asuring family unification under the nationality act? the other thing is we live near miami and they are processing I 485 april 2003 please we need advice i am loosing it!

Hey man, Congratulations!
The site is real. Make sure you punched in the right numbers. To make sure, you can also dial National Customer Service Center at 1 (800) 375-5283. You can punch in the receipt number and an automated system will read out the latest status for you. Automated system is available 24x7 (I hope). To make sure-sure, dial during weekdays and talk to a immigration officer.

Enjoy!

Eric,
Many thanks for your response. I will keep my fingures cross. Also I have filled for EAD renewal (expiration date : 6/19/06), hope this may trigger something.
My lawyer told me they will call back USCIS if we don't hear anything in 30 days but, I never heard about AILA liason. I will search net on this and try to get some info.

Thanks one more time,
Vijay

We got the I-797's in the mail today, Notice of Action....Now it says they are sending the original visa petitions to Dept of State National Visa Center....looks like another waiting game......:(

thanks for nothing haji
I can see you did not get answer to your question in this thread. I did not respond because I do not know the answer.

This is what I would suggest you:
Start a new thread and post your question.
Post it in the relavent forum like AP or K1.
Give a relavent heading to your thread.

Generally, people who respond to others do not open and read each and every message in each and every thread on this forum. They just open the thread where they can contribute something. So if your question is not related to the heading of the thread, you have less chances of getting a reply.

About AILA or Congressional inquiry

Hi There,
My I-485 notice date is 16-DEC-05 in VSC. Since end of Feb-06 VSC is processing application with notice date 15-Feb-05. I put inquiry via my lawyer using "30-day notice inquiry rule on 28-Feb-06, we did not get any response in 30 days then again my lawyer put inquiry on 31-Mar-06.
Now my paralegal is saying if we did not get any response even after this inquiry then we need to talk with Attorney.
They are suggesting we may need to start AILA (American Immigration Lawyer Association) inquiry or I can call my congressman and ask him to put congressional inquiry.
Do you think I need to choose any of above? Will putting so many enquiry will bug person who will end up having my file? If I have to choose between AILA or congressional inquiry which one I should choose and why?

Appreciate your response,
Vijay
