Need some advice for 485

Can annybody tell me at what stage during 485 ( stamping or FP ) you need the passport.
The reason I am asking is, I am planning to get my current H1 Visa
revalidated from St. Louis.
And also does it matter if your visa is expired but you are in status
because my I-94 expires in 2003 and so does my H1.

Passport

Passport is required for stamping after I-485 approval.For fingerprinting driver\'s license or even EAD card should do. As regards valid visa, this is necessary only for reentry into US--and you are definitely in status, and your approval gives the expiry date of your I-94 card.
 
Passport might be needed for Interim EAD too..

If you are planning to go to the local INS for EAD which you will be able to do 90 days from ND of the EAD .. So no worries there.
