Hi there,

I came to d US as an F-1 student and did registered for my classes and completed two semesters of my study, my credits bck frm a college in india were transferred and i was already a sophomore here. But due to some circumstances financially i had to leave school and start working illegaly here.

During this time the whole program of I-20 changed and SEVIS was introduced and was never able to return to college since my counsellors from International office refused to bring up my case and said i had to leave the country and re-apply for an I-20. I never returned since i had a feeling tht i would never be issued another visa since i stayed illegal here for quite sometime.

I still hold a valid visa till 2006, but i guess thts of no use since im not registered for any classes and dont even have a SEVIS I-20. Went to lawyer and he said tht marrying a US Citizen is probably the only way out.
I really wanna know from people over here that would tht be the only way out or is there another way tht i can get my status back and continue with my classes at any college?..

you could apply for reinstatement, but since your school is not cooperating, it seems to be out of the question. So, the only way - marriage to USC.

Traveling on OPT and visa about to expire

Hi

I am about to graduate, I have applied for OPT, my visa is expiring on 26th of june 2005,is it possible that I go back to India for a week( its very urgent).

I will have my OPT card and new I-20.
I am not sure that will my VISA expiration could be a problem or not, even if I come back before 26th June.

is there any other thing I should have to travel.

Please help

Thank you
Regards

while applying for OPT, I submitted my documents to university's International student program and services, and they give me I-20 with a document attached stating Requested for OPT

when I got my OPT, the INternational center made an annotation in my I-20 that OPT was approved and extended my I-20 for a year on that same page.

don't forget to get your I-20 signed, and you'd better have a job offer on you when you come back. Your visa will still be valid till 26th of June.

well thanks lucy

so you are syaing there are no issues related to visa, if it is valid on the day you are entering US, because i heard that you should have six months valid passport while entering but don't know if there is any rule for visa as well.

please reply

thanks
