Need help: h4 to TN

I am a canadian living in USA on H4 visa. If I apply TN status, do I have to leave US or just go to local airport POE to apply?

You need to be physically entering the US from abroad.

My husband has filed I140 so he has the priority date. Will the officer question that I have immigration intent for TN? How should I answer such questions?

It should not come up, but there is no immig intent on your part until YOU file an I-485.
